Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a position within the Builder/Crater occupational specialty. Entry level or Experienced builders/craters, using established processes and procedures, perform routine packing of various materials to include aircraft components, electronic and computer equipment, construction material, administrative supplies, and medical items for shipment domestically or overseas. Positions work under minimal supervision. High energy, positive attitude.
Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities
1. With minimal guidance from supervision, packs various materials for shipment domestically or overseas.
- Performs all established packing steps for a wide variety standard, routine materials (e.g. electronic and computer equipment, construction material, administrative supplies, and medical items) to include, measuring boxes, weighing, cubing, banding, burlaping, and filling with instapack or other types of packing material as appropriate.
- Assists in the preparation of appropriate shipping documentation and labeling as required for surface and/or air transportation as appropriate.
2. With minimal guidance from supervision, performs crating activities using established procedures.
- Measuring and cutting of wood and assembly of the entire crate used for packing non-standard items such as aircraft parts, medical supplies, communications equipment, etc.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs routine, standard maintenance on machinery on an as needed basis, e.g., oiling, cleaning, filter changing, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Some knowledge of carpentry techniques.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to apply basic mathematical skills when measuring, weighing, etc.
- Ability to use power tools and machinery.
- Ability to be trained to operate a forklift
Work Environment
Work may include exposure to drafts, noise, dust, strong odors, the operation of mechanical equipment (e.g. forklifts and motor vehicles); extended periods of standing, walking and bending; and lifting light to very heavy objects and equipment. The shop is a fully climate controlled environment.

Required Qualifications:
Experience: Entry level through advanced level.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Special certifications: May possess and maintain a forklift certification. We will provide training.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to handle; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl. The employee must also occassionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
