Compensation: High $30s to low $40s per hour, depending on experience
Estimated Annual Earnings: Approximately $88,000 to $90,000 with scheduled overtime
About the Role
A process manufacturing facility in Colwich, Kansas is hiring a hands-on Process Supervisor to lead a small team in a production environment. This role is responsible for keeping the shift safe, organized, accountable, and productive.
This is not a desk-only supervisor role. The right person will spend time on the floor, work closely with operators, train team members in the field, and make sure daily work is completed safely and correctly.
Schedule
This role works a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
The schedule includes:
- Approximately 14 scheduled workdays per month
- 12-hour shifts
- A mix of day shifts and night shifts
- Built-in overtime during scheduled 48-hour workweeks
- A rotating pattern that includes consecutive workdays and extended days off
The workweek runs Sunday through Saturday. Over a four-week period, employees are scheduled for three 48-hour weeks and one 24-hour week.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of four direct reports on rotating 12-hour shifts.
- Ensure daily production tasks are completed safely, correctly, and on time.
- Provide hands-on coaching, training, and support to operators.
- Hold employees accountable for attendance, performance, and task completion.
- Support payroll, mid-year reviews, and annual performance reviews.
- Monitor plant operations and respond quickly to issues.
- Work with maintenance and operations teams to reduce downtime.
- Support safe operation of plant equipment and process systems.
- Help build consistency, accountability, and strong operating discipline across the team.
Ideal Background
- Prior supervisory experience in a production, process, utility, chemical, or industrial environment.
- Experience leading hourly employees in a hands-on plant or manufacturing setting.
- Exposure to process equipment such as pumps, tanks, valves, transmitters, boilers, filtration systems, distillation systems, or steam systems.
- Experience with DCS, SCADA, or another process control system is preferred.
- Background in ethanol, biodiesel, chemical processing, petroleum, soybean crush, wastewater, water treatment, power generation, boilers, or utilities is a plus.
- Strong people management, time management, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and keep the team focused during plant issues.
- Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including both days and nights.
