Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Day Program
A Caring Heart Case Management, Inc. – Wilmington, NC

Are you compassionate, reliable, and ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others? A Caring Heart Case Management, Inc. is seeking dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our Day Program team. This role focuses on providing support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a structured daytime setting.

Position Details

Schedule: Various schedules available (9am-3pm, 8am-4pm, Community Networking, and Group Home 3pm-11pm)
Pay: Starting at $15/hour
Location: Wilmington and surrounding communities
Program: Adult Day Program (Community & Life Skills Focus)

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct care, supervision, and habilitative support in a day program setting
Assist with daily living skills and personal care as needed
Lead and support structured activities that promote independence and social development
Facilitate community outings and recreational activities
Follow individualized care plans and document services accurately
Maintain a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all participants
Collaborate with team members and support staff to ensure quality care

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Dependable, professional, and committed to quality care
Ability to assist individuals who may use wheelchairs
Willingness to provide personal care if needed
Strong communication skills and patience

Preferred Experience

Experience working with adults with IDD
Background as a CNA, PCA, caregiver, or similar role
Experience in day programs, community support, or life skills training

Are you able to physically push, pull, or lift 25 pounds, unassisted, on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds unassisted occasionally?
Please describe your experience working with individuals that are in the IDD populations. Also describe your experience working in a residential setting. Please include organizations that you worked for, volunteered for, and/or personal experience that you have.

To help ensure a faster hiring process, are you able to provide the following documentation if requested during the application process: a valid driver’s license, Social Security card, current vehicle registration, proof of automotive insurance, and records of your education (minimum high school diploma or equivalent)?
Training Requirements: This position requires successful completion of four paid training days (including Onboarding, in-person CPR/First Aid or Safety Care sessions, and one at-home Relias module). Training days may not be consecutive, and travel up to one hour may be required depending on the location. Compensation is provided if travel is required and attendance is confirmed. All training must be completed prior to starting your official schedule. Are you able to meet these training requirements?
Are you comfortable assisting individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) after receiving training? These tasks may include but are not limited to: Personal Care, Mobility Support, Meal Preparation & Feeding, Toileting & Continence Care, and/or Household Tasks. Would you be comfortable performing these essential duties as part of your role?

Education:

High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

Unsupervised Driving: 3 years (Required)
Working with individuals with developmental disabilities: 1 year (Preferred)
Behavioral health: 1 year (Preferred)
Passion for working with children: 1 year (Preferred)
