Full Job Description

Job Summary:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and customer-focused Dispensing Optician to join our optical team. The Dispensing Optician assists patients in selecting eyeglasses and lenses that best meet their vision needs, lifestyle, and prescription requirements. This role combines technical optical knowledge with excellent customer service to ensure patients receive the best vision solutions and a positive experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames that fit comfortably and suit their style and prescription
Interpret eyeglass prescriptions written by the optometrist
Recommend appropriate lens options, coatings, and materials based on patient needs
Take precise measurements including pupillary distance (PD), optical center, and segment height
Adjust, fit, and dispense eyeglasses to ensure proper alignment and comfort
Educate patients on lens features, coatings, and proper eyewear care
Process eyewear orders and coordinate with optical labs
Verify completed eyewear orders for accuracy before dispensing
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with glasses or patient vision concerns
Perform minor frame repairs and adjustments
Maintain an organized and attractive optical display area
Assist with inventory management and frame merchandising
Provide excellent customer service and help maintain smooth patient flow in the optical department

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum two years experience in optical sales or as a dispensing optician required
Knowledge of lens types, coatings, and frame fitting, and most vision plans required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements
Basic computer skills for order entry and practice management systems
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail/clinical environment

Pay:

$16-22/hour, commensurate with experience

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 8 Hours, Monday-Friday
