Job description:
The newly renovated Candlewood Suites located in BelAir, Maryland, is seeking a dynamic General Manager to lead the hotel into the next phase of its journey. Located right off Interstate 95, the hotel is just a short drive to Baltimore and Philadelphia and all attractions in between. The hotel has recently completed a full renovation, complete with a new outdoor pool. The person we are looking for must be a team player, capable of leading their associates to the next level in the pursuit of 100% total guest satisfaction.
Duties:
- Oversee the daily operations of the hotel, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Manage and supervise front desk staff, housekeeping staff, and other hotel personnel.
- Provide excellent guest relations by addressing guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct night audits to ensure accuracy of financial transactions and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain a high level of phone etiquette and handle phone systems effectively.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Monitor and maintain hotel inventory, including supplies, equipment, and amenities.
- Implement and enforce hotel policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Manage room reservations and ensure accurate billing for guests.
Experience:
- Previous experience in hotel management or related field preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in using hotel management software and computer systems.
- Knowledge of front desk operations, including check-in/check-out procedures, room assignments, and guest services.
- Familiarity with night audit processes and financial reporting.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Duties

- Lead and supervise hospitality teams across departments, fostering a positive work environment focused on teamwork and excellence
- Manage property management systems (PMS), hospitality reservation systems, multi-line phone systems, and other technology platforms to optimize operational efficiency
- Develop and implement revenue management strategies to maximize occupancy rates and profitability while maintaining high guest satisfaction standards
- Oversee budgeting processes, financial operations, and expense control to ensure the hotel meets its financial goals
- Maintain hotel guest service standards by monitoring guest relations, addressing complaints promptly, and ensuring exceptional customer experiences
- Coordinate human resources activities including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws
- Conduct night audits and oversee security protocols to safeguard property assets and ensure safety for guests and staff
- Implement hotel policies aligned with industry best practices for guest services, safety procedures, and operational procedures
- Foster effective communication within teams through managerial communication skills to promote transparency and motivation
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience in the hospitality industry with a strong background in hotel management or resort operations
- Extensive knowledge of hospitality management principles including revenue management, budgeting, financial management, and human resources
- Demonstrated ability to oversee daily hotel operations with a focus on customer service excellence and operational efficiency
- Experience managing property management systems (PMS), reservation platforms, front desk operations, night audit processes, and multi-line phone systems
- Multilingual or bilingual skills are highly desirable to enhance guest interactions across diverse clientele
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage hospitality teams effectively while fostering a collaborative work environment
- Previous experience working in resort settings or large-scale hotels is preferred but not mandatory
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to handle complex situations with professionalism
