Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), where you will play a vital role in supporting patients' journey toward improved independence and well-being. In this energetic and rewarding position, you will assist licensed occupational therapists in delivering personalized therapy services across diverse settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. Your compassionate approach and hands-on skills will help clients of all ages—pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities—achieve their therapy goals through engaging, client-centered care. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while expanding your professional expertise.

Responsibilities

Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs and goals.
Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility exercises, fostering independence.
Provide pediatric occupational therapy services to children with developmental delays or neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder.
Help facilitate treatment sessions focused on improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, and cognitive functions for diverse patient populations.
Participate in patient transport within healthcare facilities or home health settings to ensure safe movement during therapy sessions.
Document care activities accurately in client records, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and ensuring clear communication among team members.
Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and caregivers—to coordinate comprehensive care strategies.

Skills

Proven experience assisting with ADLs and implementing treatment plans effectively across various clinical environments.
Strong acute care experience with the ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced inpatient or outpatient settings.
Knowledge of medical imaging procedures and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practice.
Skilled in working with clients of all ages, including pediatrics with childhood developmental delays and adults requiring geriatrics or occupational health services.
Familiarity with care documentation standards and the use of electronic health records (EHR) systems for accurate record keeping.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure clear understanding of treatment goals.
Ability to perform manual handling safely while supporting patient mobility and transfers; knowledge of anatomy and physiology enhances your effectiveness.
