Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Landman with over 20 years of experience to join our team to replace our retiring Senior Landman. The ideal candidate will have a strong business background and the ability to manage an aggressive 35-year independent oil company. Must have top to bottom knowledge of all aspects of running a company in the absence of the principal. Must relocate to Abilene, Texas. A relocation expense reimbursement will be discussed at time of interview. We are offering a generous salary, depending on experience.
Duties
- Document production and understanding PSA start to closing.
- Researches and analyzes land ownership records.
- Negotiate agreements with landowners for mineral rights.
- Researches and provides documentation of leases, rights-of-way, joint ventures, and other types of oil and gas agreements.
- Performs in-house title information gathering, organizes and analyzes title documents to assess rights information, and performs internal title updates.
- Performs other land management or property management activities.
- When needed, prepares and executes specialized lease documents.
- Oversees and makes work assignments for contract personnel for lease acquisitions.
- Prepare and present reports on the status of rights acquisition.
- When there are omissions or errors on a lease or title, take the appropriate steps to correct them.
- Ability to oversee full staff already in place.
Requirements
- Must have over 20 years of experience.
- Must have a strong background in business and land work.
- Must be in the Abilene area.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Experience in land management, preferably in the oil and gas sector
- Knowledge and ability to complete water flood unitizations
- Familiarity with pipeline operations
- General knowledge of the oil business is a big plus.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects and obtain results in a performance driven, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of laws/rules/regulations that pertain to the oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications and familiarity with land management software.
- Draft, negotiate, review, and amend agreements including but not limited to oil and gas leases, farm-outs, joint-operating, participation, unit, confidentiality, conveyances, assignments, and other similar land contracts.
- Proactively pursue and deliver opportunities to maximize and or increase company value by acreage trades, acquisitions, and divestitures
- Negotiate land-related issues with, and respond to inquiries from landowners, partners, lessees, working interest owners, surface occupants, and other third parties.
- Develop an expert understanding of lease interests and the impact of non-participating interests.
- Perform title examination and obtain necessary title curative. Maintain land records and calculate, review, and approve divisions of interests.
- Represent the Company at meetings regarding or related to the Company’s assets.
- Ability to develop and understand gas contracts, oil marketing contracts, and power contracts.
- Good personality to oversee a team and direct the company's operations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
