An established Texas heavy-civil contractor is seeking an experienced Lead Foundation Driller to lead drilled-shaft operations on DOT and heavy-civil projects throughout Texas.
This is a senior field leadership position. We are looking for a career foundation drilling professional who can take ownership of drilling operations, lead a crew, maintain production and quality, and safely execute difficult drilled-shaft work with minimal supervision.
Required Experience
Applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- 10+ years of FOUNDATION DRILLING experience
- 5+ years of crew management experience
- Familiarity with DOT work and DOT requirements
- Extensive experience constructing large-diameter drilled shafts / drilled piers for structural foundations
- Experience with casing, wet-hole conditions, drilling fluids/slurry, tooling selection, reinforcement placement, and concrete placement
- Ability to independently plan and execute drilled-shaft operations
- Ability to recognize and troubleshoot changing subsurface and drilling conditions
- Experience coordinating with inspectors, project management, concrete suppliers, and other field personnel
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety, production, and quality requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Texas
Foundation drilling experience is mandatory. Water-well, oilfield, blast-hole, or similar drilling experience does NOT satisfy the 10-year foundation drilling requirement.
Responsibilities
The Lead Foundation Driller will be responsible for:
- Leading daily drilled-shaft operations
- Operating and overseeing foundation drilling equipment
- Directing, training, and managing the drilling crew
- Planning drilling sequences, tooling, casing, and daily production
- Coordinating rebar cage and concrete placement
- Working directly with DOT inspectors and project personnel
- Maintaining required drilling logs and field documentation
- Troubleshooting difficult drilling and subsurface conditions
- Ensuring drilled shafts are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications
- Maintaining crew productivity and jobsite organization
- Monitoring equipment condition and communicating maintenance needs
- Identifying material, equipment, and manpower needs before they impact production
- Maintaining a strong safety culture within the drilling crew
Compensation
- $100,000–$125,000 annual salary, depending on experience
- Company truck provided
- Per diem while traveling
- Full-time, year-round position
This position is intended for an experienced foundation drilling professional who is already capable of leading a crew and taking ownership of field operations.
Applicants without at least 10 years of foundation drilling experience and 5 years of crew-management experience will not be considered.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
