Job Title: Quality Inspector
Job Description
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting a wide range of optical, mechanical, and electrical components and assemblies to ensure they meet quality, engineering, and customer requirements. You will perform complex and non-routine inspections, work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and play a key role in supporting high-precision products and regulated industry standards.
Responsibilities

Inspect optical, machined, and electrical components and assemblies to verify compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and customer requirements.

Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections, documenting results thoroughly and maintaining accurate quality records and Objective Quality Evidence.

Set up and operate inspection equipment such as calipers, gauge pins, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).

Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with relevant industry standards and internal procedures.

Generate nonconformance reports, document findings, and support corrective action and CAPA processes.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection plans to verify product compliance.

Maintain calibration of inspection tools and equipment, and manage calibration records and databases.

Support testing activities by observing tests and verifying that results comply with specified requirements.

Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams to ensure quality standards are understood and met.

Communicate inspection results, trends, and issues clearly and professionally to internal teams and stakeholders.

Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits as needed by providing inspection records, evidence, and process explanations.

Perform inspections at supplier or customer sites when required to verify product quality and compliance.

Apply root cause analysis techniques to help identify sources of defects and support the implementation of effective corrective actions.

Follow all applicable safety, regulatory, and quality system requirements during inspection and related activities.

Work extended hours when needed to support project schedules, high-priority builds, or audit preparation.
Essential Skills-
Approximately 5+ years of experience performing inspection across mechanical, electrical, or optical components.

Proven experience in quality inspection and quality assurance, including inspection planning and execution.

Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.

Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Hands-on experience using inspection tools such as calipers, gauge pins, optical comparators, and CMMs.

Ability to perform non-routine inspections and troubleshoot complex quality issues.

Experience generating and documenting nonconformance reports and supporting corrective action processes.

Familiarity with root cause analysis and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) methodologies.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly document and present inspection results.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in measurements, documentation, and record keeping.

Ability to follow and uphold quality standards and procedures such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.

Associate’s degree, technical certification, military training, or equivalent experience in quality inspection or metrology.
Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Experience with optical or electro-optical systems and high-precision components.

Familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, or similar industry standards.

Experience with CMM programming and operation, ideally using software such as PC-DMIS.

Background working in clean room environments and handling sensitive or high-precision components.

Experience using ERP systems such as SAP to manage quality notifications and inspection data.

Knowledge of nonconformance processes, quality notifications, and related workflows in regulated environments.

Exposure to advanced optical inspection techniques such as scratch/dig evaluation, coating inspection, and foreign object debris (FOD) detection.

Experience supporting internal and external audits and working within regulated industries.

Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance is a plus.
Work Environment
This role supports high-precision optical, mechanical, and electrical products in a quality-focused, regulated environment. You will work with a variety of inspection technologies and equipment, including calipers, gauge pins, optical comparators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and related metrology tools. The position may involve work in clean room areas when inspecting sensitive or high-precision components. You will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams and may occasionally perform inspections at supplier or customer sites. The role may require extended hours at times to meet project demands, support testing activities, or assist with audits. All work must comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and quality system requirements, and adherence to established procedures and safe work practices is essential.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Concord, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
