Director of Quality

Location: Farmers Branch, Texas

Work Environment: Onsite (This position is not remote)

Reports To: Accountable Manager

Job Overview

Aero Composites and Structures, LLC is seeking an experienced Director of Quality to provide strategic leadership for the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure continued regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

The Director of Quality leads the Quality organization, including both Quality Assurance and Quality Control, and partners closely with Operations to drive continuous improvement across the organization. This position serves as the Company's primary liaison with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), customers, and regulatory authorities while developing a high-performing quality organization that supports safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

This role is responsible for strengthening organizational capability, developing quality leadership, enhancing inspection effectiveness, and ensuring the Company remains positioned for continued growth and regulatory excellence.

Responsibilities for Director of Quality

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Company's Quality Management System (QMS).
Ensure compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, customer requirements, company manuals, and industry standards.
Serve as the primary interface with the FAA, customers, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
Lead and develop the Quality Assurance and Quality Control organizations, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the Chief Inspector and Quality leadership team.
Lead internal, customer, and regulatory audits while ensuring timely and effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Monitor quality performance metrics, identify trends, and implement initiatives that improve product quality, inspection effectiveness, and operational performance.
Oversee the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of quality manuals, procedures, and compliance systems.
Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Production leadership to improve quality performance while supporting operational objectives.
Support new capabilities, certifications, customer approvals, and business growth initiatives.
Advise executive leadership on regulatory risk, compliance posture, quality performance, and organizational readiness.
Develop succession plans, training strategies, and leadership development programs for the Quality organization.
Promote a culture focused on safety, compliance, accountability, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications for Director of Quality

Extensive leadership experience within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station quality organization.
Strong working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 145, 14 CFR Part 43, FAA guidance, and repair station compliance requirements.
Demonstrated experience leading Quality Assurance and Quality Control organizations.
Proven experience serving as the primary interface with the FAA and leading FAA, customer, and third-party audits.
Experience implementing, maintaining, or improving an AS9110 Quality Management System.
Demonstrated success building high-performing quality teams through coaching, training, succession planning, and leadership development.
Experience leading corrective and preventive action (CAPA), root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of inspection processes, airworthiness documentation, and regulatory compliance within a Part 145 environment.
Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, judgment, and decision-making skills.
Ability to balance regulatory compliance with operational effectiveness and business objectives.
Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Engineering, Quality, Business, or a related field preferred.
ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), AS9110 Lead Auditor, or comparable quality certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an office and aircraft maintenance environment.
Ability to walk production areas, inspection stations, and hangar facilities.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, auditors, and regulatory representatives.
