BLVD Electric Inc. is seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented HR & Payroll Coordinator to support our growing team.
This position will focus primarily on employee timekeeping, payroll coordination, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee documentation, and day-to-day HR administration for both our field and office teams.
With more than 150 employees, BLVD Electric Inc. is a growing commercial electrical contractor operating across California. Our teams work on commercial buildings, ground-up construction, tenant improvements, hospitality, retail, fitness, multifamily, infrastructure, power distribution, lighting, controls, service upgrades, and large-scale electrical installations.
The HR & Payroll Coordinator will work closely with company leadership, payroll, accounting, project management, superintendents, foremen, field employees, office employees, and job candidates to help ensure employee information, timekeeping, hiring paperwork, and payroll-related records are accurate and up to date.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with a large employee population, able to follow up consistently, and capable of managing multiple administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
What You Will DoTimekeeping & Payroll Coordination
- Collect, review, and track employee timecards and timesheets.
- Follow up with employees, foremen, superintendents, and project teams regarding missing or incomplete time.
- Review time entries for accuracy before payroll processing.
- Verify employee hours, overtime, job assignments, classifications, and other payroll-related information.
- Assist with correcting timekeeping discrepancies before payroll deadlines.
- Maintain organized payroll and timekeeping records.
- Track employee pay rates, wage changes, promotions, transfers, and other payroll-related updates.
- Coordinate new-hire information with payroll and accounting.
- Assist with payroll deductions, reimbursements, sick time, PTO, and other employee pay-related records.
- Help ensure payroll information is submitted accurately and on schedule.
- Respond to basic employee questions regarding timesheets, hours worked, paychecks, PTO, and payroll documentation.
- Maintain employee and payroll trackers to ensure information remains current.
Recruiting & Hiring
- Assist with recruiting for field and office positions.
- Create and post job advertisements on recruiting platforms.
- Review resumes and applications.
- Conduct initial candidate phone screenings.
- Coordinate interviews with managers and company leadership.
- Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process.
- Track applicants, interviews, offers, and hiring status.
- Coordinate employment offers and start dates.
- Maintain organized recruiting records and candidate information.
- Work with staffing agencies and recruiting partners when needed.
New-Hire Onboarding
- Prepare offer letters, employment documents, and new-hire onboarding packets.
- Coordinate new employee orientations and first-day requirements.
- Collect and review new-hire paperwork for completeness.
- Verify employment eligibility documentation and assist with I-9 administration.
- Enter and maintain employee information within company systems.
- Coordinate new-hire information with payroll, accounting, safety, and operations.
- Ensure employees receive required company policies, forms, and onboarding information.
- Track completion of onboarding requirements.
- Maintain new-hire checklists and employee files.
- Coordinate onboarding for both field employees and office employees.
Employee Records & HR Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files.
- Update employee information including contact information, position, department, pay rate, supervisor, and employment status.
- Process employee changes including promotions, transfers, wage changes, leaves, and terminations.
- Track employee certifications, licenses, safety cards, and expiration dates.
- Maintain employee rosters and organizational records.
- Prepare employment verification documents when requested.
- Assist with unemployment, workers' compensation, benefits, and other employee documentation as needed.
- Maintain HR forms, templates, trackers, and administrative records.
- Help ensure required employee documents are completed and properly filed.
- Assist with benefits enrollment and employee benefit questions.
- Coordinate offboarding paperwork and employee separation documentation.
- Support audits and requests for employee or payroll records.
Employee & Field Support
- Serve as a point of contact for routine employee questions regarding payroll, timekeeping, onboarding, benefits, documentation, and company procedures.
- Communicate regularly with field supervisors regarding employee information and timekeeping.
- Follow up with employees regarding missing forms, certifications, paperwork, or required information.
- Help maintain accurate employee assignments across projects and departments.
- Assist management with employee-related administrative requests.
- Support company orientations, training, recruiting events, and employee meetings.
- Help maintain organized and consistent HR and payroll processes as the company continues to grow.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in HR coordination, payroll support, recruiting, onboarding, timekeeping, office administration, or a related position.
- Experience working with a large hourly workforce is strongly preferred.
- Construction, electrical contracting, subcontracting, skilled-trades, or field-service experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience reviewing employee timesheets or assisting with payroll processing.
- Experience with recruiting, interviewing coordination, hiring, and onboarding.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing employee hours and payroll information.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to meet recurring payroll and administrative deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable communicating with field employees, foremen, superintendents, managers, and office staff.
- Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information professionally.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Dependable, professional, approachable, and organized.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, email, and electronic filing systems.
- Experience with payroll software, timekeeping systems, HRIS platforms, applicant-tracking systems, or construction-management software is preferred.
- Bilingual English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Higher-level compensation may be available for candidates with strong construction payroll and HR coordination experience who can independently manage timekeeping, onboarding, recruiting, and employee administration.

Work Location
