Job Summary
The Content Manager (CM) is responsible for developing and executing a cohesive content strategy that strengthens brand awareness, drives audience engagement, and supports business growth. This role owns the direction, planning, and development of content across channels, ensuring every piece aligns with brand objectives, audience needs, and platform best practices.
The CM will lead content execution through a combination of strategic oversight and hands-on guidance, using performance analytics and trend analysis to uncover actionable insights and continuously optimize content effectiveness. They will manage and mentor direct reports while collaborating cross-functionally to influence content creation and elevate overall quality.
Success in this role requires a deep understanding of social platforms, audience behavior, storytelling, and content performance, with a strong focus on creating meaningful, high-performing content that resonates with customers, strengthens brand affinity, and delivers measurable results.
Essential Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the company's marketing objectives and target audience.
- Create platform-specific content strategies that leverage native formats, audience behaviors, and emerging trends to maximize reach, engagement, and conversion.
- Implement and continually optimize a balanced content strategy approach that weaves best practices and data-informed content (in relation to previous performance, audience interests, platform algorithms, trends, etc.), with a test and learn approach to ensure fresh approaches are continuously evaluated for effectiveness.
- Plan and manage the content calendar, ensuring timely creation and publication of content across channels (website, blog, social media, email, etc.).
- Research industry trends, audience interests, and competitors to inform content strategy. Present findings, insights, and potential action plans to cross functional teams.
Content Creation, Distribution & Optimization:
- Oversee the creation of high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content, including videos, social media posts, articles, blog posts, etc.
- Ensure content is SEO-friendly, optimized for organic traffic, and adheres to brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with designers, photographers, writers, and other team members to produce engaging and relevant content.
- As needed, create video, static, and/or written content to support strategies and meet goals.
- Partner closely with external SEO/SEM and paid media agencies to provide top performing content.
- Manage content creation and distribution across multiple platforms, including the company websites, social media, and third-party websites.
- Develop strategies to grow the brand’s audience and increase engagement.
- Monitor content performance and adjust strategies to improve outcomes.
- Oversee community management and provide insights and key learnings when trends appear.
Audience Growth & Community Development:
- Develop strategies to grow audience size, increase engagement, and strengthen customer loyalty across owned and social channels.
- Identify opportunities to participate in relevant cultural moments, trends, and conversations while maintaining brand alignment.
- Build a deep understanding of customer needs, motivations, and behaviors to inform content strategy and storytelling.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a team of content creators, ensuring high standards of quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with other departments (marketing, sales, product, etc.) to ensure content supports broader company goals.
- Provide guidance on content best practices and stay up to date with the latest content marketing trends.
- Lead team and cross functional meetings where content is a focus.
Analytics & Reporting:
- Track and analyze the performance of all content across channels using analytics tools (Social Platform Metrics, Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics, Northbeam, etc.).
- Analyze content performance to identify opportunities for audience growth, engagement, conversion, and revenue impact, and translate findings into actionable recommendations and strategic direction.
- Use data-driven insights to refine and optimize content strategy for continuous improvement.
- Create and share monthly and quarterly analysis, reporting, and insights to leadership.
Minimum Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in content marketing, social media, content management, marketing, or a similar role.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), SEO best practices, and web analytics tools.
- Experience with social media platforms and understanding of social media best practices.
- Creative thinker with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience using content performance data to inform strategy and drive measurable business results.
- Experience managing creative teams, agencies, freelancers, or cross-functional stakeholders.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
