Job Overview
Are you a trademark associate at a large firm and tired of the pressures and demands of billable hours quotas? Do you like being home for dinner at a reasonable hour? Are you a solo trademark practitioner looking for more stability and overhead support? If so, then this opportunity may be for you.

Sisson & Banyas IP Law is a rapidly growing boutique intellectual property law firm representing domestic and international customers from start-ups to large multinational corporations on all levels of intellectual property. The Firm works on a unique flat fee model that helps build long-lasting relationships with our customers, eliminates the pressures of billable hours quotas, and improves work/life balance for our attorneys.

Sisson & Banyas IP Law is seeking a licensed U.S. trademark attorney to join our growing practice.

Duties

Conduct U.S. and international trademark knock out searches, prosecution, and maintenance.
Assist with Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) proceedings.
Advise clients on brand protection, domain name issues, and internet/e- commerce enforcement.
Draft and negotiate licensing and acquisition agreements; conduct IP due diligence for mergers.
Provide advice on copyright protection and related intellectual property matters.
Manage and maintain complex U.S. and international trademark portfolios
Conduct trademark knock out reviews
Prepare and prosecute trademark applications in the United States and internationally
Handle trademark enforcement matters, including: Cease and desist letters, Notice-and-takedown procedures, TTAB proceedings, UDRP disputes.
Develop and implement trademark protection and enforcement strategies
Collaborate with clients and international counsel on worldwide brand protection matters
Strong knowledge of trademark law principles and procedures in both domestic and international contexts
Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis for conducting comprehensive searches and analysis
Excellent legal drafting skills for preparing applications, licensing agreements, cease-and-desist notices, and litigation documents
Strong research capabilities combined with excellent writing skills to produce clear legal memos and reports

Education

Must possess at least 3 to 5+ years of legal experience in U.S. trademark clearance, prosecution, copyright counseling, and trademark-specific activities.

J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission

Active Bar Membership in Good Standing within the State where Role is Located.
