Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Wellness Dietitian plays a key role in supporting employee health, productivity, and well-being through evidence-based nutrition guidance, engaging wellness programming, and individualized support. The Wellness Dietitian designs, delivers, and evaluates nutrition-focused initiatives that align with the organization’s wellness strategy and promote long-term behavior change in a company/corporate environment. The role of the Dietitian is to provide proactive and ongoing support to our enrollees and their families in order to optimize self-management health and wellness strategies. The Wellness Dietitian will utilize the technology within the information management system to identify enrollees appropriate for contact. The Registered Dietitian will encourage enrollees/family members to maintain health, manage disease and disease impacts, and sustain independence. Some responsibilities may be shared with other personnel. The Registered Dietitian must provide efficient quality service at all times. The Registered Dietitian will accomplish this goal by using evidence-based standards of care to educate, motivate and empower enrollees to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Department Summary

Wellness is a department within AultCare dedicated to corporate wellness, developing strategies to support employee health and well-being. This department includes both clinical and non-clinical allied health professionals supporting comprehensive wellness while integrated with AultCare services to provide the highest quality of health and wellness to corporate customers. The Dietitian collaborates closely with company leadership / partners, AultCare Care Coordination, and the wellness team to create a culture of health across the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition with advanced experience to meet registration requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Maintain Registered Dietitian (RD) status according to the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), which is the credentialing agency for dietitians.

Maintain and/or renew Dietitian licensure status as required by the Medical Board of Ohio

Department Qualifications

Experienced in administering consumer programs and conducting individual and group nutrition education.

Skills

Typing, word processing and spreadsheet development preferred as well as Microsoft Access database.

Handle frequent interruptions in a courteous and professional manner.

Effectively communicate with various customers.

Work independently, and effectively perform multi-tasks.

Utilize information systems within scope of position.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Employ the electronic information management system to identify enrollees/families eligible then assess needs and appropriateness for registered dietitian services.

Communicate with customers in a professional manner and maintain positive contact with other medical professionals.

Utilize motivational interviewing strategies to discuss goal setting and action planning with customers.

Provide proactive, ongoing collaboration with enrollees and families along evidence-based guidelines to support them in maintaining health or managing disease and disease impacts through self-management strategies.

Conducting nutrition assessments.

Teaching group nutritional classes.

Encouraging consumption of healthy foods via manager approved food demonstrations.

Speaking engagements for various groups.

Developing educational materials.

Reviewing client progress toward nutrition-focused goals.

Communicating with the client’s physician/providers when necessary.

Answer incoming telephone calls within three rings.

Use good judgment in referring inquires to other office personnel, supervisor, and Medical Director.

Consistently demonstrate ability to multi-task and prioritize work in accordance with organizational position and necessity.

Demonstrate ability to set goals and develop action plans while motivating and inspiring enrollee/family to make change.

Accurately check eligibility of member and obtain information when necessary.

Accurately track turn around times for designated tasks.

Maintain accurate and complete documentation in electronic data systems.

Select mailings from approved educational materials as relates to medical nutrition therapy and weight management.

Reviews and makes pertinent recommendations to food records of members.

Facilitates dynamic group class lectures on nutrition topics utilizing multimedia such as power point, videos, visual demonstrations, and written handouts.

Regularly reviews client progress and identifies potential barriers to success regarding nutritional goals.

Demonstrates initiative to improve services and materials with little or no direct supervision.

Exhibits professional standards according to Employee Handbook to enhance departmental development.

Maintain superior quality in all job functions, contributing to the successful attainment of departmental/organizational quality goals.

Promote evidence-based standards to positively impact quality of care by educating enrollees/family members and empowering them to collaborate with providers for optimal outcomes.

Respond positively to change and new ideas.

Identify and suggest to the appropriate supervisory staff ideas for quality improvement in departmental operations with the goal of improving efficiency and productivity.

Actively seek out opportunities to make a contribution, rather than passively accept situations.

Process Improvement: Continuously reviews, recommends and implements improvement steps, as needed or directed.

Department Responsibilities & Expectations

Demonstrates an effective and efficient demeanor when in the role of primary contact person for AultCare Medical Management Departments, which will promote client satisfaction.

Positively motivates client toward nutrition-focused goals by reviewing and encouraging known keys to success both telephonically or onsite at employer group as component of AultCare Wellness program.

Working Conditions

8 hours between 7am and 5pm. There is some flexibility as to the actual assigned work hours based on the needs of the department.

Subject to changes in working shifts. Occasional weekend and holiday shifts are possible.

Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the shift.

Works in well-lighted, ventilated areas.

Expected to adhere to departmental and Aultman Health Foundation policies and procedures.

Hazardous Exposure Category

Category I - Includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for spills or splashes of, or mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
