Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
The Director is responsible for conducting opportunity assessments, determining sourcing needs, developing and implementing sourcing strategies and programs, and managing systems supporting the sourcing process.

Work collaboratively with key stakeholders (facilities, physicians, management) to plan prioritize and implement sourcing programs that contribute to the organizations strategic objects, drive operational efficiencies, and achieve incremental cost savings.

Manage >$400 million in spend, aggregating and negotiating best in class contracts.

Create and manage a new products pipeline with strategic suppliers to provide a competitive advantage to SCA with regards to 1st to market or low cost product improvements.

Develop and manage sourcing strategies for supplies, including: prepare, issue and manage RFP process; evaluate proposals and financial impact; negotiate contracts for both SCA and GPO agreements; work collaboratively with Legal Department to finalize agreements; develop implementation plan with Field Operations; report cost savings by facility and overall.

Acquire, analyze, and report on category specific consumption data, sourcing effectiveness, and compliance to negotiated agreements.

Manage strategic relationships and develop new suppliers to ensure best-in-class cost and performance using world-class techniques (supplier score cards, supply chain risk assessment, etc.)

Assess and monitor supplier performance by developing meaningful technical and financial objectives (Scorecard) that are measurable and achievable. Develop and implement action plans with follow-up for suppliers failing to meet performance expectations.

Manage and develop new procedures to ensure efficient administration of contracts, including appropriate filing and record management and professional purchasing practices and techniques.

Monitor existing contracts to ensure costs are competitive with market trends.

Understand, communicate, and effectively promote the value proposition of the sourcing strategies for SCA.

Addresses operational areas of weakness (i.e. financial control, customer satisfaction, cycle times, etc.) by implementing appropriate short and long-term remedies.

Qualifications:
- JD degree required.

7-10+ years progressive strategic sourcing and category management experience.

Strong understanding of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) or healthcare industry preferred.

Experience working with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) preferred

Experience in the use of ERP technology to examine and analyze data to identify opportunities, evaluate the results of sourcing strategies, and implement appropriate program changes. PeopleSoft experience preferred.

Expert in Microsoft applications with working knowledge of industry standard contract management, materials management, and reporting software.
Skills Required:
- Proven ability to implement cost savings initiatives on high physician preference supplies.

Demonstrated success in reducing total cost on medical supplies consistently ahead of industry pace.

Expert negotiator capable of developing and closing complex sourcing agreements that will ensure supplies meet standards in delivery, cost, quality, and service, and will meet specifications and ethical standards of SCA.

Extensive applicable healthcare supplier network.

Superior analytical skills with emphasis in utilization, cost comparisons and total cost analysis.

Experience in conducting industry and product research through a variety of sources, such as suppliers' financial statements, industry reports, competitor analysis, etc., and the ability to synthesize and present information

Excellent interpersonal skills including a proven ability to successfully interact and foster open dialogue with physicians, internal departments, supplier management, and all levels of internal personnel including C-level executives.
