Full Job Description

Haynes Downard LLP is a CPA firm with a fast-paced team of accountants. Our clients are primarily located in Central Alabama, and are comprised of individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations and others.

Our ideal candidate is competent in basic accounting principles, ambitious to continue learning and improving, analytically minded, and can think "outside of the box" in order to achieve a high level of client service. The candidate will be involved in many areas of public accounting, including taxation and auditing, and will gain a wide variety of experience.

We are looking for a direct hire candidate. In this job, you will report to directly to a Manager or Partner as you produce and analyze client financial data, produce workpapers, assist with general ledger analysis, assist with special projects, and prepare year-end tax returns and financial statements.

Job Responsibilities

· Tax preparation and analysis of tax strategy.

· Assist audit team in performing audit engagements.

· Analyze and prepare financial statements.

· Perform compilation and review procedures.

· Analyze and reconcile accounts.

· Communicate directly and effectively with clients.

Note: Out-of-town travel is rarely required for this position

Job Requirements

· Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Accounting.

· 1–3 years' experience in public accounting (or have held at least 1 public accounting internship).

· CPA designation or eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

· Experience with tax and audit software tools (experience with ProSystem fx tax and engagement a plus).

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially excel) and accounting software (QuickBooks a plus).

· Able to work in a high-pressure environment while meeting daily, monthly and other deadlines.
