About Gizmo Art Production
For nearly 30 years, Gizmo Art Production has fabricated award-winning museum exhibits, public art, architectural features, and experiential environments throughout the United States.
Every project we build is custom. We work with museums, artists, architects, designers, and public agencies to create one-of-a-kind installations that demand exceptional craftsmanship, precision, and teamwork.
We're looking for a Technical Designer who understands how things are built and can produce clear, accurate shop drawings that allow our fabrication team to build efficiently and correctly.
Museum experience is not required.
If you've created shop drawings for custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, commercial interiors, store fixtures, custom metal fabrication, or similar projects, we'll teach you the museum and exhibit industry.
Position Summary
This is not a conceptual design position.
We are not looking for a graphic designer, exhibit planner, or industrial designer.
We're looking for someone with 3–7 years of experience producing construction documents and shop drawings for custom fabricated projects.
Your primary responsibility will be translating approved designs into accurate, fabrication-ready drawing packages that can be built by our cabinetmakers, metal fabricators, CNC operators, finish carpenters, and installers.
If you enjoy solving construction problems, organizing technical information, and creating drawings that builders trust, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Produce detailed shop drawings for custom fabrication projects.
- Create complete construction document packages from design through fabrication.
Develop:
- Site plans
- Floor plans
- Elevations
- Sections

- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams.
- Resolve construction issues before production begins.
- Revise drawings throughout fabrication as projects evolve.
- Deliver drawing packages that keep production moving on schedule.
What We're Looking For

You understand that good drawings reduce mistakes, save time, and make life easier for the people building the project.
You naturally think through:
- How parts fit together
- Construction sequencing
- Material selection

- Installation methods
You know when additional detail is necessary—and when simplicity is better.

- Experience with Rhino is a plus.
