What you will be doing:
In this role, you will support statewide implementation of the Alaska Reads Act by coordinating Early Education Program Grants and early learning initiatives that strengthen literacy outcomes for Alaska’s youngest learners.

Support districts and early learning partners with grant implementation, monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Provide technical assistance and training on evidence-based literacy instruction, developmentally appropriate practices, and early learning standards.

Develop guidance, resources, presentations, and communications to support high-quality early learning and literacy programs statewide.

Collaborate with Alaska Reads Act and Early Learning teams to support family engagement, assessment literacy, and instructional best practices.

The Alaska Reads Act and Early Learning team supports children and families beginning at birth through 12 grade by strengthening early literacy, promoting developmentally appropriate early learning practices, and expanding access to high-quality early learning opportunities across Alaska.
This position plays an important role in supporting statewide implementation of the Alaska Reads Act through technical assistance, collaboration, grant support, and partnership with school districts and early learning providers to improve literacy and school readiness outcomes for Alaska’s youngest learners.

The working environment you can expect:
This position may be based in either the Juneau or Anchorage office and offers flexibility to work in the office, hybrid, or fully remote depending on operational needs. The position supports DEED-sponsored events, statewide educational conferences, professional learning opportunities, and statewide collaboration efforts related to implementation of the Alaska Reads Act and high-quality early learning programs.

Special Notice:
Travel may be required within Alaska to provide technical assistance and support to school districts and early learning partners implementing early learning and literacy initiatives. Occasional out-of-state travel for conferences, professional development, or collaboration opportunities may also be required.
Alaska Initial, Professional, or Master Teacher Certification OR Type B Administrator Certification required.
Endorsement or Content Area Exam in Early Childhood Education, Early Learning, or Elementary Education is desired but not required.
