National Grid is hiring a Lead Program Manager to manage the collaboration and coordination of emergency preparedness, planning, and response activities with external Emergency Management stakeholders in across New York state. This is a hybrid role open to any of our New York office locations.

As the Lead Emergency Management Liaison, you'll play a critical role in helping communities stay safe and resilient when it matters most. Working closely with National Grid's External Affairs team, you'll build and strengthen partnerships with federal, state, tribal, county, and local emergency management agencies across New York, ensuring strong collaboration before, during, and after emergency events.
In this highly visible role, you'll lead emergency preparedness initiatives, represent National Grid in planning activities and exercises, and serve as a trusted partner to key external stakeholders. You'll help shape response strategies, support regulatory compliance, and provide leadership during major storms and system emergencies, helping coordinate efforts that keep customers and communities informed and supported.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with county, state, federal, tribal, and local emergency management partners.
- Lead coordination meetings and preparedness activities with external stakeholders.
- Represent National Grid in emergency planning meetings, drills, exercises, and industry events.
- Support emergency response operations during storms and other system emergencies.
- Help develop and improve emergency preparedness, resilience, and response programs.
- Maintain stakeholder communication plans and emergency management contact databases.
- Support regulatory compliance activities, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required:
- A bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in utility operations, emergency preparedness, field operations, program management, or a related area.
- Knowledge of emergency response frameworks, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to travel throughout the service territory and support emergency response assignments when required.
- A valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Preferred:
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) certifications.
- Utility storm response or electric operations experience.
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or New York State Professional Emergency Manager certification.
- Experience with emergency planning, resilience initiatives, and regulatory compliance programs.
- Play a vital role in helping communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and major storm events.
- Build strategic partnerships with emergency management agencies, government officials, and first responders across New York.
- Lead high-impact preparedness, resilience, and response initiatives that support critical energy infrastructure.

Salary
Upstate NY - $125,000 - $147,000 a year
Downstate NY - $151,000 - $177,000 a year
