We are currently seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Folder Operator to join our team in Albany, NY. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining folding equipment used to process printed sheets for binding, packaging, or mailing.

Summary

The Folder Operator plays a key role in the finishing department, ensuring that printed materials are folded accurately and efficiently according to job specifications. This position requires a hands-on individual who can interpret job tickets, set up machines properly, and adjust on the fly to maintain quality and throughput. The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating folders in a commercial printing environment and be comfortable working independently during high-volume shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and maintain MBO buckle folding machines to perform various operations including folding, slitting, perforating, and scoring
Interpret job tickets and specifications to determine fold type, sequence, page size, and packaging instructions
Load sheets into feeders and perform test runs to confirm machine settings
Monitor production runs and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and minimize spoilage
Perform first-piece and in-process quality checks; ensure output matches specifications and is ready for downstream processing or delivery
Track counts, log production information accurately, and ensure proper labeling of completed work
Assist with jogging, bundling, or stacking as needed for the next operation
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and operational protocols
Operate multiple finishing machines as required
Communicate issues or needed repairs promptly to supervisors or maintenance staff
Other duties may be assigned as needed to support departmental goals

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum 2 years of experience operating folding machines in a commercial print environment
Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with MBO or equivalent folding systems is a plus
Ability to read and interpret job tickets, work instructions, and quality requirements
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
Able to lift 40–60 lbs and stand for long periods
Comfortable working independently during high-output shifts
Good organizational skills and ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment
