Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Café Prep & Line Cook plays a key role in creating a great guest experience by preparing fresh food, heating pastries and breakfast items, assisting customers at the register, and helping keep the café running smoothly. This position balances food preparation with front-of-house service, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both working in the kitchen and interacting with guests.

This position will work expressly in one of our cafes Monday-Thursday 7am-3:00/3:30pm with potential flexibility to work every other Friday or half shifts (will discuss in the interview.)

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation

Prepare sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other café menu items according to recipes and quality standards.
Heat pastries, breakfast sandwiches, soups, and other grab-and-go items.
Portion, prep, and restock ingredients throughout the day.
Ensure food is fresh, well-presented, and ready for service.

Guest Service

Greet customers with a friendly, welcoming attitude.
Operate the POS system accurately and efficiently.
Answer questions about menu items and make recommendations.
Prepare customer orders quickly while maintaining quality.

Operations

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
Maintain a clean, organized workstation and dining area.
Restock beverages, snacks, pastries, and supplies.
Assist with opening and closing duties.
Monitor product quality and notify the Café Lead of inventory needs.
Support teammates wherever needed during busy periods.

Qualifications

Previous food service, café, restaurant, or deli experience preferred.
Comfortable preparing food while interacting with customers.
Cash handling and POS experience preferred.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Dependable, organized, and positive attitude.
ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements

Stand for extended periods.
Lift up to 40 pounds.
Work around hot equipment and kitchen appliances.
Frequent bending, reaching, and walking.
