ABOUT US

The SHOP is a community-driven strength & conditioning gym in the heart of downtown Corvallis. Now in our 12th year, we are known for smart, safe training; coaches who actually coach; and a culture that feels like the best hour of your day.

We help busy adults get stronger, move better, and build confidence for the long haul. Our community includes everyone from university faculty and researchers, engineers, and medical professionals to local students, working parents, and retirees. We coach members from ages 11 to 82, and we celebrate consistency by honoring milestones from 50 workouts up to 3,000 workouts!

At The SHOP, there are no egos. We live by the standard that strong people lift others up, and we support our community through event sponsorships, fundraisers, and more.

The SHOP has grown from a single coach to a team of four in a state-of-the-art 5,000 sf facility with 200 active members.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Group Fitness Coach to deliver exceptional group, open gym, and 1-on-1 coaching experiences. You will help build a strong, resilient community of members committed to long-term health and movement.

Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week (as detailed below) with a set, recurring weekly schedule. Requires occasional weekend, early morning, or evening availability.
Start Date: Fall 2026

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

You possess at least 1 year of coaching experience across group, small group, or 1-on-1 settings. You prioritize technical accuracy, movement quality, client safety, and building meaningful relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

Nationally or Internationally recognized personal training and/or group exercise credentials
Preferred certifications include NASM-CPT or NSCA-CSCS, FMS, SFG, CFSC, FRC, and CrossFit Level 1 & 2
1+ years of varied coaching experience
Large group classes, small group training, 1-on-1 personal training
Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
Highly dependable, organized, and receptive to feedback

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching
Lead Large Group Classes (approximately 18-20 classes per week) with up to 24 people per class
Supervise Open Gym Hours (approximately 12-15 hours per week)
Conduct 1-on-1 Assessment and On-Ramp for New Members
Member Retention & Outreach
Connect regularly with current members and assist with former member reactivation initiatives.
Administrative & Facility Operations
Strength and Conditioning Programming
Facility Organization
Weekly Staff Meeting
Update / Maintain Membership Management System (PushPress)
Other projects and initiatives under the direction of the Owner
