Friends of Recovery – New York Job Posting

Friends of Recovery – New York (FOR-NY) is the only state-wide organization that works with local communities across the state to mobilize the recovery community to have their voices heard. FOR-NY is a non-profit organization whose mission is to demonstrate the power and promise of recovery from addictions and its value to individuals, families and communities throughout NYS and the nation. NYS Education and Training Coordinator

General Summary:

Under the general direction of Executive Director (ED), this position is responsible for providing development, planning, training delivery, evaluation management and coordination of all Friends of Recovery-New York (inclusive of Youth Voices Matter and Rural Recovery) education and training programs. The NYS Education and Training Coordinator will assist in maintaining a continuous awareness of innovative recovery education and training programs which have proven successful, and are evidence-based, emerging best practices and practice-based. Individuals with lived experience, inclusive of family lived experience are the ideal candidate. This position is based in Albany. This is not a remote position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Training

Coordinates the development, scheduling, registration, recordkeeping and delivery of FOR-NY regional and statewide trainings inclusive of the following topics, but not limited to, and that are contracted in the OASAS scope of work; conscious that the contracted number of trainings may change per the contracted year*;
Responsible for the oversight and support of the FOR-NY’s Best Practice Trainers to ensure training is aligned with recovery-oriented systems of care and recovery best practices;
Coordinates the development of the FOR-NY Family-to-Family Recovery Support Tool-Kit to be held on the FOR-NY website. The toolkit will be reviewed annually and include such items as: information on addiction and recovery; addiction warning signs; impact on individuals / families; NYS treatment options- describe what treatment consists of; tips for navigating and accessing the NYS treatment system; and tips for recovery supports for families;
Conduct at least (1) Community stakeholders to gather education and training needs; This can be conducted at one of the Peer Learning Collaborative
Oversight and final review and approval of statewide communications of all upcoming FOR-NY, YVM and Rural Recovery trainings;
Education and Training Reporting

· Responsible for providing monthly education and trainings reports that provide a summary of education and training activities, no later than the 5th of every month;

· Responsible for drafting of an annual education and training report document, that includes all of FOR-NY core trainings, YVM and Rural Recovery;

Annual Recovery Conference Planning

· Assist in the coordination of the Statewide annual Recovery Conference Program Planning advisory committee to assist in the program agenda for the annual conference. This activity is demonstrated by review of the request of the proposals, review of the topics submitted, and assist in the final selection of the workshops. Assist the conference contracted planner in the development and delivery of the training certificates to conference participants;

· Work to secure the necessary credits for the conference workshops i.e. NYCB, SW, CEU, etc.;

· Education and Training Contractors;

Responsible for the review of all Best Practice Trainer contracts and invoices to ensure accuracy;

Preferred Education

U.S. citizen with graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or one

accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher)

in Human Services or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct lived experience or family member experience in addiction prevention, harm reduction, recovery and/or treatment spaces is integral and imperative to a successful candidate and success in the role.

Qualifications and Experience

Certification as a Recovery Coach (CARC), Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and/or similar Qualified Health Professional
5-7 years of human service experience, preferably with a not-for-profit, health-related or addiction organization
A proven commitment to the public health issues surrounding addiction and recovery
Demonstrated expertise in Word, Excel, Outlook, social media and websites
Strong relationship management and organizational skills
A self-directed manager with an entrepreneurial attitude
Previous supervision experience
