The Instructor of Engineering and Networking Technologies deliver high-quality, hands-on instruction across electronics and computer engineering curricula. This role focuses on bridging the gap between hardware design and software implementation, preparing students to troubleshoot, program, build, and maintain complex digital and analog systems. The instructor ensures an engaging, safety-conscious learning environment utilizing modern lab equipment, industry-standard simulation software, and practical project-based learning.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Required: Associate in applied science (AAS) degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Information Technology, or a closely related field.Two years of relevant industry experience.Technical knowledge of electrical/computer engineering principles and network infrastructure (routing/switching).Current Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking certification or higher.Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology.3+ years of relevant industry experience.Previous teaching or training experience (classroom, corporate, or community college).Advanced certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Instructor Training, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+.Demonstrated experience with electronic circuit analysis (DC/AC), digital electronics, microcontroller programming, hardware-software integration, and troubleshooting utilizing laboratory instrumentation.Demonstrated experience with network infrastructure, routing/switching, server administration, virtualization, and cloud technologies
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Classroom Instruction Maintain a teaching load of 18–22 contact hours per semester.Develop and distribute course syllabi using established institutional templates and guidelines.Design and deliver lessons that incorporate real-world applications and instructional technology to enhance learning.Follow strict protocols for laboratory cleanliness and report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.Participate in the evaluation and acquisition of instructional materials and equipment.Other Services to StudentsOffer at least five office hours per week to provide student support and guidance.Act as a mentor, helping students navigate academic and career pathways.Maintain regular, appropriate, professional communication with students.Participate in semester advising and registration activities as needed.Assist in the recruitment and retention efforts of the College.Advocate and provide motivation for students.Communicate students’ needs to Program Head.Divisional Administrative ExpectationsMaintain accurate records and submit reports, grades, and required documentation on time.Engage in professional development to stay current in instructional methods and industry trends.Participate in program and curriculum review.
