Full Job Description

Posting Details

The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division is responsible for administering the state's UI program under the oversight of the United States Department of Labor (USDOL). This includes the collection of UI contributions/taxes from employers on a quarterly basis, and the distribution of unemployment compensation to New Mexicans who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own and meet various eligibility requirements. The Division executes these functions via robust self-service web services, as well as through staff assisted services via the UI Operations Center.
Why does the job exist?

This position is located within the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center and is responsible for performing complex unemployment insurance handling to include eligibility, separations, fraud detections, employer charges, overpayment analysis, method of payment, history transfers, claim and account audits, claimant and employer collection activities, payment processing and auditing, issuing of 15 day notices, filing of warrants of levy and lien, filing of release of warrant of levy and lien, and out of state collections.
How does it get done?

Interview claimant and/or employer to gather necessary information related to Unemployment Insurance Claims, benefit eligibility, wage reporting, employer tax rates and all other issues related to the Unemployment Insurance program. Issue determinations to include correcting existing determinations for issues regarding claimant and employer accounts including eligibility, separations, employer charges, over-payments and issues related to contractors. Resolve discrepancies on claimant and/or employer accounts.

New Mexico Employers, Claimants of the State of New Mexico as well as staff within the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.

Minimum Qualification

High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions

This position is located in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Operations inbound call center. Work is performed in an open floor office concept, call center environment with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage, moderate noise, and possible dust. Extended sitting and some bending and reaching may be required.
