Mission
The Museum’s mission is “to serve as America’s resource for nuclear history and science. The Museum presents exhibits and quality educational programs that convey the diversity of individuals and events that shape the historical and technical context of the nuclear age.

Overview
The Events & Engagement Manager leads high-profile, large‑scale experiences while contributing to education, science, and history at a national level. This position is responsible for end-to-end museum event strategy and execution, from development through post-event analysis. This role blends the best of corporate event production—budgeting, vendor management, brand experience, and stakeholder engagement—with the opportunity to support a nationally recognized museum and its educational mission.

The Events & Engagement Manager plays a key role in shaping the Museum’s public presence through flagship events like the Einstein Gala (New Mexico’s Biggest Science Party), Nuclear Science Week (an international celebration), and a diverse portfolio of donor, corporate, and community events. This person will work directly with the Director of Development and Communications, senior leadership, sponsors, and the Board of Trustees.

This leader works as a core member of the Development and Communications Team, collaborating closely with colleagues to ensure events support fundraising, donor engagement, brand visibility, and public outreach goals. This position also provides managerial oversight as the direct supervisor of the Museum’s Facility Rental Coordinator, ensuring alignment, scheduling efficiency, and a consistent guest experience across Museum-hosted events.

In addition, this role serves as a key liaison to the Museum’s Board of Directors, coordinating meetings, events, and special initiatives.

Responsibilities

Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Partnerships

Work as an integrated member of the Development and Communications Team, aligning events with fundraising strategies, donor stewardship, marketing campaigns, and public engagement efforts.
Manage and collaborate closely with the Facility Rental Coordinator to coordinate scheduling, logistics, and operational needs for events hosted at the Museum, ensuring a seamless experience for internal events, rentals, and third‑party partners.
Partner with Museum leadership, marketing, development, operations, and education staff to deliver cohesive, high‑quality experiences across all event types.
Support shared goals related to revenue generation, brand awareness, community relationships, and mission impact.

Lead High‑Impact Events

Own the full event lifecycle for a portfolio of major events, including galas, silent and live auctions, fundraising events, corporate receptions, donor experiences, and public programs.
Manage event strategy, budgets, timelines, logistics, contracts, vendors, and on‑site execution.
Deliver polished, professional events that reflect a strong brand, exceptional guest experience, and measurable outcomes.
Serve as the on‑site lead during events, ensuring seamless execution and real‑time problem-solving.
Evaluate event performance and ROI, preparing post‑event reports and insights to inform future planning.

Sponsorships, Revenue & Partnerships

Collaborate with the Director of Development and Communications and Museum leadership staff to support revenue goals tied to events.
Secure and manage corporate sponsorships, in‑kind partnerships, and auction or prize donations.
Build and maintain professional relationships with sponsors, donors, vendors, and community partners.
Support donor stewardship and guest engagement before, during, and after events.

Board & Executive‑Level Coordination

Act as the primary staff partner to the Museum’s Board of Trustees for the annual fundraising gala.
Coordinate Board and committee meetings, including scheduling, materials, logistics, and event support.
Assist with Board‑related events, retreats, and special initiatives, working directly with senior leaders and trustees.

Brand & Marketing Collaboration

Work with the Director of Development and Communications staff to promote events across digital, print, and social platforms.
Ensure event messaging, materials, and guest experience align with the Museum’s brand and voice.
Contribute content and ideas that elevate visibility and attendance.

General Responsibilities

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
Attention to detail paired with the ability to think strategically
Maintain clear communication with internal teams and external partners
Attend required staff meetings and collaborate across departments
Full-time, 40 hours per week; schedule includes evenings, weekends, and non-standard hours based on events
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
Ability to assist with physical setup and teardown of event spaces, including tables and chairs

Requirements

Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in event management, corporate events, hospitality, experiential marketing, or related fields.
Professional communication and stakeholder management
Comfort working with senior leaders, sponsors, and high‑profile guests
Confidence leading events and making decisions in real time
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bloomerang CRM, and Fundraising is a plus
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required, and candidates should have experience working within a results‑oriented environment.
Proven success managing multiple events, budgets, vendors, and timelines simultaneously.
Experience working with executive stakeholders, clients, sponsors, or boards is highly valued.
Nonprofit or museum experience is welcome but not required.
