Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Assistant oversees emergency action planning, operation and services of building systems for all NMCC facilities. This position helps maintain the building and grounds, and coordinates with other departments so as not to interrupt patient care or regular business operations. This position reinforces and adheres to the core values of the company in order to achieve the mission and vision. Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential Functions Statement(s):

Maintains the building systems for safe and comfortable operation.
Performs monthly fire extinguisher and emergency lighting checks as scheduled.
Performs miscellaneous painting, scraping, sanding, caulking, sheetrock and plaster repairs as needed and/or directed
Performs occasional carpentry work including framing, trim work, installing windows, doors and roof repairs
Performs miscellaneous cleaning and maintenance as assigned.
Assists in office furniture moving and setup.
Checks lighting in buildings and changes bulbs as necessary
Repairs, plasters, hangs, and finishes drywall.
Assists in small and large remodeling projects.
Constantly monitors surroundings and health hazards and reports same to Facility Engineering Director.
Delivers supplies as scheduled and needed.
Prioritizes work to ensure building occupants’ needs are met in a timely manner.
Submits all requisitions and receipts for all materials and services to Facilities Engineering Director for approval.
Performs general office work including maintaining work logs, employee time, log books, and keeping inventories.
Performs plumbing repairs on sinks, commodes, urinals, water fountains and water leaks.
Monitors cooling and heating systems.
Replaces electrical ballasts, switches and plugs.
Maintains the upkeep of the building in regard to walls and floors.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
One-year relevant experience performing minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs and maintenance.
Knowledge of basic building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
Must have the ability to work well with all departments.
OSHA 10 hour preferred.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite

Certificates & Licenses:

Valid New Mexico driver’s license
