Strategic Partnerships Manager (posted as Business Development Manager)

Salary: $50,000 - $59,999 annually (exempt) + respective benefits (THIS IS NOT A COMMISSION-BASED POSITION)

Schedule: This position is full-time at 40-hours per week.

Location: Position is based in Albuquerque, NM; travel may be required.

We are seeking a Business Development Manager who shares this philosophy—someone who excels at building long-term relationships, connecting dots, and positioning our firm as a trusted partner.The Business Development Manager will drive strategic growth by identifying, initiating, and nurturing relationships with potential clients. Unlike a traditional, commission-driven sales role, this position is focused on strategic outreach, relationship building, and consultative problem-solving. You will research organizations to identify key decision-makers, dive deep into their specific operational or business challenges, and articulate how Constellation Consulting can fill those gaps. From initial outreach to crafting persuasive, well-written proposals and presenting engaging client solutions, you will serve as the bridge between prospective clients and our internal team.

Reports to: Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships

Responsibilities:

Strategic Research & Relationship Building

Identify Key Stakeholders: Conduct thorough research to map out organizations, identify key decision-makers, and understand their unique business landscape before outreach.
Relationship Management: Initiate and cultivate authentic, long-term relationships with prospects, partners, and key industry figures built on trust and mutual value.
Connect the Dots: Act as a consultative listener—identifying operational gaps, pain points, and strategic needs within target organizations, and aligning them directly with Constellation's expertise.

Proposals, Presentations & Positioning

Craft Compelling Proposals: Write, structure, and refine detailed, highly tailored proposals and RFPs that clearly articulate our value proposition and scope of work.
Deliver Engaging Presentations: Design and present clear, impactful business decks and presentations to executive stakeholders and prospective clients.
Thoughtful Follow-Through: Guide prospects through the discovery process with steady, consultative communication rather than hard-close sales tactics.
Expand Strategic Networks: Represent Constellation at key industry events and business development forums to generate prospective opportunities and heighten brand visibility.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Pipeline Tracking

Team Collaboration: Partner closely with internal subject matter experts, consultants, and leadership to align proposal messaging with team capabilities and client goals.
Relationship Tracking: Maintain accurate, up-to-date client and lead records within our team's CMS (or Excel/Google Sheets), ensuring seamless handoffs to the project team once an engagement begins.
Process Improvement: Continuously refine presentation decks, proposal templates, and research methods based on client feedback and market trends.
Other Support Duties: Perform administrative, logistical, and routine project support duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience: 3 - 5+ years in business development, account management, client relations, or a strategic consulting environment.
No High-Pressure Sales Mindset: A strong preference for consultative, partnership-driven engagement over traditional commission-driven outbound sales.
Exceptional Communication: Outstanding written communication skills (for proposals, briefs, and email outreach), familiarity with visual presentation tools (e.g., Canva, Figma, or Google Slides formatting) and eloquent verbal skills for client presentations.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to dissect complex organizational structures, spot underlying needs, and synthesize solutions effectively.
Collaborative Spirit: A proactive team player who thrives in a supportive, low-ego, mission-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience entering/managing data in CRM or database systems.
Experience navigating government vendor registration portals (e.g., state procurement sites, SAM.gov).
Prior experience supporting grant, RFP, or proposal submission workflows.
Familiarity with public health, healthcare, or government agency terminology in New Mexico or the surrounding region.
Time Management: Skilled at prioritizing daily tasks and facilitating workflow to meet strict submission deadlines.
