Job Title: Grants & Development Manager
Classification: Part-Time (Approximately 20 Hours/week)
Pay Rate: Hourly/Depends on Experience
Reports To: Executive Director
New Mexico Kids Matter advocates for children who have been abused or neglected by training and supervising individuals to become Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). CASAs are specially trained, usually volunteers, and are appointed by a Judge to the case of a child or sibling group who has/have been abused or neglected. Their role is to advocate in Court on behalf of the Child’s best interest.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Grants and Development Manager will lead NMKM’s overall grant funding portfolio and related activities. They will ensure compliance and accountability for meeting NMKM’s values, policies, and donor/funder specifications.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
1) Grant Funding:
· Working directly with the Executive Director and Director of Operations to develop grant application strategy, goals, and annual budget forecasts to meet the organization's mission and goals
· Identify future funding strategies and opportunities
· Identify and nurture relationships with donors, community partners, corporate sponsors, and foundations
· Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations
· Monitor and analyze fundraising data
· Prepare funding reports for administration, the Board of Directors, funders, etc., as needed
2) Grant Management:
· Grant research
· Maintain and implement all grant relationship duties, including writing, structuring, and submitting all grant applications
· Prepare and submit all funding requests (grants, proposals, RFP responses, etc.)
· Manage and monitor grants and contracts (cost, performance, and schedule) to ensure compliance with the terms of all grants and contracts
· Manage reporting and data management activities to meet funder reporting requirements and ensure all funder reporting requirements are met
3) Grant Cultivation:
· Collaborate with the organization's Executive Director to identify new programs and/or business/service opportunities to meet the needs of the community and advance the organization’s growth. This includes the following activities:
* Identify community/client needs that may represent growth opportunities for the organization
* Develop business/project plans for potential new opportunities that include service delivery objectives and strategy, budgets, staffing plans, project plans including deliverables and timelines, and project metrics and other associated assessment/ evaluation mechanisms
* Identify and pursue funding opportunities for new services and projects
5) Other Responsibilities:
· Implement and manage donor database and related tools
· Maintain online giving/donation platforms and supervise volunteers who assist with data entry
· Manage donor acknowledgments
· Work in collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Operations to design, run, and organize compliance reports
· In equal partnership with all staff members, participate in activities and events related to fundraising, recruitment, mission-related events and observances, staff retreats, Board meetings and related activities, and any other engagement that supports our mission and directly benefits the organization
· Promote and maintain ethical, professional, and cordial relationships with all associated with NM Kids Matter, both within the organization and throughout the community
· Participate in mission-related and job-related training opportunities
· Perform additional duties as requested
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma required
· One year of similar grant writing experience or 3-5 years of experience in customer service, community development, fundraising, or donor relations
· Ability and demonstrated track record of managing complex timelines and schedules, firm deadlines, and be able to prioritize projects
· Proficient with all office-related technology and devices, such as email, office suite, excel, phones, copiers, etc.
· Must be able to pass Criminal and Children, Youth, & Family background checks and a Sexual Abuse Registry check
Preferred Qualifications:
· A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. In lieu of a degree, significant professional, relevant experience may be considered.
· Three years of nonprofit grant writing experience
· Experience with VOCA or other Federal grants
· Experience with nonprofit CRMs
· Understanding of child welfare or social services processes or agencies a plus
· Professional communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
· Self-starter, motivated to fulfill our mission with a commitment to excellence
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The Grants Manager will be expected to have dependable daily transportation to attend staff meetings and events as needed. This position will work in the office and at events that may involve physical activities such as lifting, bending, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking. Additionally, the person may spend several hours sitting at a computer daily. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable a person with disabilities to do the job.
This position is hybrid/remote, and specific in-office requirements will be determined based on experience and the needs of the organization.
Pay: From $28.00 per hour
