The Mortgage Loan Closer and Funder is a compliance-critical position responsible for ensuring all mortgage and home equity loans close accurately, securely, and in full alignment with regulatory, investor, and internal policy requirements. This role protects the credit union from compliance risk, ensures TRID accuracy, and safeguards member trust. In our small, high-performing team, the Closer/Funder must bring ambition, discipline, and a 'championship mindset' working with precision, urgency, and collaboration to drive operational excellence and elevate the member experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Reviews approved mortgage/home equity loans for any conditions that must be met prior to closing or funding. If prior to closing, effective communication with the Processor and/or Loan Officer is required to obtain all information or documents before preparing closing documents.
Ensures any prior to funding documents are completed.
Validate Closing Disclosure (CD) is balanced prior to signing.
Draws closing documents from the core system and reviews all documents for accuracy. Assembles documents for delivery to title company or onsite for member closing.
Notifies Loan Processor and Mortgage Loan Officer package is ready to go to title. Completes funding process for mortgage or home equity loans.
Contacts title company to arrange pick-up of closing documents and delivery of signed closing documents.
Responds to questions or concerns regarding closing requirements.
Prepares checks for payoffs to complete funding and notifies Loan Officer for funding deliverables based on loan type.
Performs onsite member closings while maintaining valid notary designation.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience: One year to three years of Mortgage funding and closing experience.

Education: A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills:

Strong attention to detail in reviewing legal and financial documents.
Strong understanding of product types, recission periods, and right to cancel.
Strong organization and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple files under strict deadlines.
Familiarity with TRID compliance and secondary market/investor requirements as well as portfolio products.
Problem-solving mindset and adaptability in a small-team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and financial calculations with experience in the mortgage lending process preferred.

Physical Requirements: The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision, color vision, and ability to focus.

Work Environment: The noise level in the office work environment is typically moderate.

Location and Schedule: This position is required to work onsite at our Coors Bosque branch. Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.
