University of New Mexico Hospital is hiring Registered Nurses for Adult IP Admission Unit RN. We have immediate openings for day and night shifts.

Job Summary

As an RN Inpatient /Adult IP Admission Unit at UNM Hospital work in a fast‑paced, high‑throughput unit that serves as both an Observation Unit and a bridge for patients transitioning from the Emergency Department to the Progressive Care Units. Nurses in the PAAU manage diverse patient populations across multiple specialties in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include:

- Deliver safe, direct patient care

- Collaborate with the healthcare team on individualized care plans

- Administer medications, including IV medications

- Assist with tests, procedures and emergency measures

- Educate patients and families

- Document care and clinical findings accurately

- Support patient safety initiatives

- Participate in orientation, precepting and professional development

- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for other staff

Minimum Qualifications

- Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program

- Current Registered Nurse license in New Mexico, or eligibility through applicable reciprocal agreement

- CPR/BLS certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

- Ability to obtain UNMH IV Verification within 6 months of hire

- Ability to complete required unit-based certifications and competencies

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing

- Bilingual English/Spanish

- Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni or Navajo

- National certification in area of specialty
