Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Certified Addictions Counselor and make a profound impact on individuals battling substance use and behavioral health challenges. In this vital role, you will provide expert clinical counseling, develop personalized treatment plans, and support patients through their recovery journey. Your expertise in addiction medicine, mental health counseling, and behavioral therapy will help foster positive change and promote lasting wellness. Duties

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate addiction severity, mental health status, and co-occurring disorders using diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards.
Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis to facilitate behavioral change.
Develop tailored treatment plans that incorporate crisis intervention techniques, case management strategies, and family counseling to support holistic recovery.
Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical staff, and community resources to optimize patient outcomes.
Manage intake procedures for new patients, including clinical evaluations, medical documentation, and initial assessments.
Engage in ongoing research and data collection efforts related to addiction treatment efficacy, diagnostic evaluation processes, and behavioral health trends.

Experience

Proven experience in addiction counseling or behavioral health settings with a focus on substance use disorder treatment.
Strong background in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, crisis management, and social work principles.
Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical documentation standards.
Experience working within hospital or community care environments, including home-based care or outpatient clinics.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care approaches for conditions like PTSD and experience managing crisis situations effectively.
Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and patient assessments with sensitivity to diverse populations including children & families when applicable.
