About Us

We are a small, client-focused accounting firm located in Annandale, Virginia, offering personalized tax services with a high standard of accuracy and care. Our office supports a loyal client base—many of whom are long-term relationships. We pride ourselves on a friendly, efficient, and detail-driven approach to tax season.

For the 2026 tax season, we're looking for a dependable, experienced professional to support our team by preparing tax returns behind the scenes—no direct client communication is required unless clarification is needed.

Position Summary

We’re seeking a detail-oriented seasonal tax preparer to join our firm from February through April 2027. We would like to bring you on around November to get you trained how our processes work. This role is ideal for someone who prefers to work independently, focusing on preparing and completing tax returns accurately and efficiently using Lacerte Tax Software.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare individual (Form 1040) and small business tax returns using Lacerte.
Organize, review, and process client-provided documentation.
Ensure compliance with current federal and state tax laws.
Work independently and efficiently to meet internal timelines and quality standards.
Return completed tax files to the review team; follow up only when clarification is needed.

Work Expectations

Core Working Hours: You must be reachable by phone between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Actual working hours are flexible and can be adjusted as needed.
30–50 hours per week, with lighter workloads in the early season and increasing hours as the April filing deadline approaches
Ideal candidate will be expected to complete approximately 150 individual tax returns and 10 corporate returns over the course of the tax season

Required Qualifications

Prior experience preparing tax returns, preferably 5+ seasons.
Proficient with Lacerte Tax Software.
Reliable transportation to commute to our Annandale office for pickup/drop-off of client documents.
Strong understanding of federal and Virginia state tax codes.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with elderly or long-time clients’ tax documentation.
Familiarity with secure handling of sensitive tax information.
Ability to manage multiple returns at once and prioritize efficiently.
Background in working for smaller accounting firms or boutique tax shops.
Active CPA, EA, or licensed Attorney credential.

Flexible hours — you can work in-office or partially remotely after picking up documents.

Pay: $30.00 - $100.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 50.0 per week
