Full Job Description

A growing organization in West Des Moines is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join its team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and providing excellent support to employees and management.

Key Responsibilities
Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll for employees while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, 401k contributions, tax information, and direct deposit updates.
Review and audit payroll data to ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and year-end activities, including W-2 preparation.

Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
2+ years of payroll processing experience.
Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage/hour compliance.
Experience with payroll software systems Sage, ADP, NetSuite, Oracle, Paylocity, Paychex and Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information.
