Full Job Description

CLIMB, Inc. has been dedicated to assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 45 years!

No experience – not a problem. If you are caring, energetic, outgoing, work well in a team & bring the right attitude; we'll train you for success!

At CLIMB, we specialize in supporting adults and seniors who are blind and have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in our various Residential Programs. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you'll be a part of our dynamic team helping to enrich the lives of those we support. The DSP is responsible for meeting the needs of the clients by providing person centered direct care and supervision, positive behavior support, engagement and instruction. The DSP is responsible for the safety of the clients and maintaining a living environment that is clean and pleasant. This role does include hygiene assistance and mobility assistance for residents, as well as cleaning/janitorial work for the facility.

Starting Rate: from $20.00 per hour, with annual increases. A higher starting rate may be considered based on years of experience working as a DSP and verifiable DSP1 & DSP2 certification.

Shifts currently available:

Afternoon/evening shifts 2:30pm-11pm, Full Time (32-40hours/per week), SCHEDULE INCLUDES WEEKENDS.
Afternoon/evening shifts 2:30pm-11pm, Part Time (16hours/per week) WEEKENDS ONLY.

Location: Sierra Madre, CA

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time (includes weekends) or Part-Time (weekends only)

Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or GED
Successful clearance of DOJ background checks
Satisfactorily pass pre-employment physical with lifting test, drug test, and negative TB test
Valid Driver's License in good standing required (must be licensed for min. of 3 years)
Able to communicate well with clients and team
Good physical health and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks
Knowledge of housekeeping and infection prevention/sanitation protocols (preferred)
A minimum of one year experience working with intellectual disabilities (preferred)

Duties and Responsibilities Overview:

Implementation of program preparation functions to include but not limited to: data collection and analysis, training plans, staff meetings, house meetings, daily progress notes
Assist with activities of daily living (ADL’s)
Provide instruction and assistance in independent living skills as defined in the IPP
Assist dispensing clients’ medications and record in the medication administration record
Assist with meals and snacks as indicated on schedule
Follow infection prevention/sanitation protocols
Change linens and towels, clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.…
Successfully complete all in-service training and courses required for the position within required timelines

Additional Requirements:

Require physical exertion including walking, bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling and reaching or similar activities.
Ability to lift/support clients
