Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech)

Location: Alice Hospital, Alice, Texas

Shift: Full Time

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Department Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in acute care, patient support, and medical procedures, with a commitment to delivering high-quality emergency care. As an Emergency Department Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting physicians and nurses by providing essential patient care, operating medical equipment, and ensuring the smooth functioning of emergency services. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your clinical skills and compassionate approach will make a significant difference in patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Assist healthcare professionals with patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and documentation using clinical information systems.
Perform venipuncture and specimen collection accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
Support patients through procedures such as catheterization, suturing assistance, and IV insertion, ensuring comfort and safety.
Operate and maintain medical equipment including EKG machines, pulse oximeters, and cardiac event monitors for accurate diagnostics.
Provide basic life support (BLS) and CPR in emergency situations while following established protocols to stabilize patients.
Assist with patient mobility, heavy lifting, and positioning to ensure safety during transport or treatment.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following infection control standards and aseptic techniques.
Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive emergency care tailored to each patient's needs.

Requirements

Proven hospital experience with a focus on emergency room or acute care settings.
Demonstrated proficiency in catheterization, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and specimen collection procedures.
Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, cardiac rhythm analysis, and medical terminology relevant to emergency medicine.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required; additional certifications such as ACLS are advantageous.
Familiarity with clinical information systems for accurate data entry and documentation.
Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently under pressure in high-stress situations.
Physical stamina for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or movement within the emergency department environment.
Strong communication skills combined with a compassionate approach toward patient care.
