Full Job Description

Position Overview

The Housing Navigator is responsible for identifying, securing, and maintaining access to safe, affordable housing opportunities throughout the Lehigh Valley. This position serves as a strategic bridge between residents experiencing homelessness and local landlords, property managers, housing authorities, and community stakeholders. The Housing Navigator will proactively source available housing units, cultivate landlord partnerships, track housing market data, and support rapid placement efforts to reduce homelessness and housing instability.

Experience & Knowledge

· Minimum 2 years’ experience in housing services, property management, case management, or community outreach.

· Knowledge of Lehigh Valley housing market and HUD programs preferred.

· Understanding of housing barriers such as evictions, credit challenges, and background issues

Skills & Abilities

· Strong relationship-building and landlord engagement skills

· Confident communicator with negotiation abilities

· Highly organized with strong documentation skills

· Solution-focused and resourceful under pressure

· Ability to manage multiple housing searches simultaneously

· Comfort working with diverse and vulnerable populations

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, public administration, real estate, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

· Ability to travel locally for landlord meetings, housing viewings, and inspections

· Proficiency in data tracking and reporting systems.

What You’ll Do

· Identify available safe and appropriate rental units across Lehigh and Northampton Counties.

· Support residents in overcoming housing barriers

· Document housing search efforts and outcomes

· Collaborate closely with case managers and participate in case conferences to match residents with appropriate housing opportunities.

· Assist participants with housing applications and required documentation

· Review leases with participants and educate them on tenant responsibilities

· Monitor rental market trends and vacancy rates.

· Develop and maintain a centralized housing resource database.

· Recruit and cultivate relationships with private landlords and property managers.

· Serve as liaison between landlords and the agency.

· Educate landlords on rental assistance programs and risk mitigation strategies.

· Track housing placements and maintain accurate documentation in HMIS or required systems.

· Provide weekly and monthly housing availability and eligibility requirements and placement reports.

· Attend housing coalition and Continuum of Care meetings.
