Location: Allentown, PA (Hybrid schedule) 10% travel
Compensation: $90k-$110k/yr DOE
Requirements: AS/BS in Engineering 5+ years exp in field services, technical support, engineering sales or applications, exp with equipment troubleshooting, vacuum or gas systems, compressors
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Technical Support Engineer specializing in cryogenic systems to provide advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and field service for high-reliability cryogenic and industrial gas equipment. The role combines remote diagnostics, customer-facing problem resolution, and hands-on field work to ensure uptime, safe operation, and optimized performance of cryogenic and related pressure and vacuum systems. The ideal candidate is a proven service engineer with strong fault-finding skills, technical communication ability, and experience supporting complex mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary technical contact for customers

Troubleshoot cryogenic equipment (compressors, cryopumps, vacuum systems)

Walk customers through diagnostics and fixes (phone/video)

Identify root causes and escalate complex issues to engineering

Document cases and track recurring issues

Support product, service, and engineering teams
Qualifications
-
Associates or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent practical experience (Associates with strong field background considered).

5+ years of hands-on experience as a Service Engineer or Technical Support Engineer supporting industrial equipment; experience with cryogenics or industrial gas systems strongly preferred.

Demonstrated expertise in technical support, equipment troubleshooting, and on-site service work.

Strong diagnostic skills with experience reading schematics, using test equipment, and performing root-cause analysis.

Customer-facing experience including training customers and working directly at customer sites; excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with CRM systems, MS Office, and service reporting tools.

Ability to travel regularly for field service and to work flexible hours as required for customer support and field deployments.

Familiarity with safety standards and safe handling procedures for cryogenic fluids and compressed gases.
