Full Job Description

Household Manager / Family Assistant

We are a busy family in the Romeo, Michigan area seeking an experienced, highly organized, and proactive full-time Household Manager / Family Assistant to oversee the day-to-day operations of our household and help coordinate our family's schedule.

Our children are school-aged, so this is not a traditional nanny position. We are looking for a capable professional who can become a trusted, long-term part of our household and take ownership of the many moving pieces involved in managing a busy family and large private residence.

The ideal candidate will serve as the central point of coordination for the household—anticipating needs, managing schedules, coordinating outside professionals and service providers, and ensuring that household responsibilities are handled efficiently without requiring constant direction.

Responsibilities include:

Overseeing the day-to-day operations and organization of a large private residence
Managing and scheduling household vendors, contractors, maintenance providers, cleaning crews, landscapers, and other service professionals
Coordinating additional household and family professionals, including personal chefs, personal trainers, children's sports trainers, tutors, and similar providers
Maintaining household maintenance schedules and ensuring repairs and preventative maintenance are completed
Managing household projects from scheduling through completion and following up with vendors as necessary
Coordinating children's school, sports, dance, activities, appointments, and other commitments
Assisting with school pickup and transportation to practices, activities, and appointments when needed
Maintaining and coordinating family and household calendars
Managing household deliveries, service appointments, and vendor access
Running household errands, returns, dry cleaning, grocery shopping, and other miscellaneous needs
Maintaining household inventories and ensuring groceries, supplies, and other necessities remain stocked
Assisting with household organization and laundry as needed
Helping coordinate family vacations and travel, including packing, household preparation, and related logistics
Providing occasional supervision and assistance for our school-aged children when needed
Identifying household needs and proactively addressing them before they become issues
Handling miscellaneous household and family projects as they arise

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is exceptionally trustworthy, discreet, organized, responsible, and proactive. This position requires someone who takes ownership, exercises good judgment, communicates effectively, and is comfortable independently managing multiple priorities.

The successful candidate should be someone who can look ahead, recognize what needs to be done, develop a plan, and execute it without requiring constant direction.

Prior experience in private household management, estate management, family assistance, executive/personal assistance, hospitality, property management, or a similar high-responsibility role is strongly preferred.

Candidates should have excellent communication and organizational skills, a clean driving record, reliable transportation, and the ability to work professionally with family members, household staff, contractors, vendors, and other service providers.

Discretion, confidentiality, and respect for our family's privacy are essential requirements of this position.

Schedule & Compensation

This is a full-time or flexible part-time if agreeable. Monday-through-Friday but flexible position. The schedule will include some afternoon and early-evening hours due to children's school and activity schedules. Flexibility will occasionally be required based on household and family needs.

Compensation is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications. Paid time off and additional benefits can be discussed with qualified candidates.
