Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Systems Engineer to manage and evolve our core technology infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring high availability, security, and scalability across on-premises and cloud platforms.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in Veeam Backup & Replication, Windows Server, and hybrid data environments, along with experience supporting remote workforce technologies and modern infrastructure practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support enterprise infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, storage, networking, and hybrid cloud environments
- Design, implement, and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication solutions across on-premises and Azure-connected systems
- Monitor and validate backup operations; perform routine recovery testing to ensure data integrity and business continuity
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
- Support hybrid data management across on-premises databases and Azure platforms
- Administer and optimize database environments and support cloud integration initiatives
- Lead Windows Server lifecycle management, including patching, upgrades, and performance tuning
- Support secure remote access technologies (VPN, Citrix, Always On VPN)
- Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity, proactively resolving issues
- Contribute to modernization initiatives, including virtualization and cloud adoption projects
- Collaborate with IT leadership and business stakeholders to align infrastructure with organizational goals
- Maintain accurate system documentation and operational procedures
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for complex infrastructure issues
- Support security and compliance initiatives, including system hardening, access control, and data governance
- Drive continuous improvement for system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency

- Windows Server administration (Active Directory, Group Policy)
- Veeam Backup & Replication
- Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services
- Virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V)
- Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN)
- Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
- Performance monitoring and system optimization
- Scripting or automation (PowerShell preferred)
- Troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues
- Technical documentation and communication

- Hybrid cloud architecture (on-premises + Azure)

- Design and deploy scalable, secure infrastructure solutions aligned to business needs
- Maintain high system availability through proactive monitoring and issue resolution
- Implement reliable backup and recovery solutions with measurable outcomes
- Translate technical requirements into practical infrastructure improvements
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex, cross-platform issues efficiently
- Collaborate across technical and non-technical teams to deliver results
- Adapt to evolving technologies and support continuous infrastructure improvement
- Execute disaster recovery plans and validate system resilience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or systems administration
- Strong hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication
- Proven expertise with Windows Server environments and Active Directory
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments, including Microsoft Azure
- Experience with database management and cloud integration
- Experience supporting remote access technologies (VPN, Citrix)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Michignan residency not required but strongly desired.
Preferred Qualifications
- Veeam certification (VMCE) or equivalent experience
- Experience with Azure data services, backup, and recovery solutions
- Familiarity with hybrid identity and cloud networking
- Exposure to infrastructure modernization and transformation initiatives
- Understanding of physical networking and cabling standards
