PROBATION PERIOD:

After your 60-day probation period, eligible full time employee benefits include 14 paid holidays, 12 Paid Time Off days. JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Residential Property Accountant owns the day-to-day accounting for our residential portfolio inside AppFolio, our property management platform. You will keep every tenant, owner, and property ledger accurate and reconciled; produce clean, owner-ready financial statements on time each month; and safeguard the trust funds we hold on behalf of our clients. This is a detail-critical role: the money flowing through our accounts belongs to our owners and tenants, and our owners judge our competence by the accuracy of their monthly statements.

The right person is meticulous, organized, and reliable, communicates clearly in writing, and takes ownership of getting the numbers right the first time.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

The Property Accountant’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Reconciling bank accounts regularly
Preparing journal entries and making adjustments as necessary
Working with the team to resolve accounting related issues
Preparing Owner Statements, Income Statements and other monthly reports with Property Managers
Preparing & processing monthly Owner Distributions
Maintaining accurate and organized records in digital and physical filing systems (file cabinets and Dropbox)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

o Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

o Knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP

o 2+ years of accounting experience

o References required during interview

o Authorization to work in the United States of America

o Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

o Willingness to undergo pre-employment background check in accordance with local laws and regulations

o Excellent computer skills (understand the difference between emailing CC and BCC, Reply ALL, use Google Calendar, how to use conference call tools like Google Meet, Zoom)

o Windows 10 experience

o Intermediate to advance level Microsoft Office experience (mostly Word and Excel)

PREFERRED (but not required):

o 1-2 years of real estate or property management experience

o Property accounting depth — Familiarity with security-deposit dispositions, owner draws, and trust-account compliance.

o Experience with AppFolio property management software

o Experience with Dropbox, Google Workspace, Asana

o Bilingual -- Speak, read, write in Korean proficiently
