Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Director of Strategic Sourcing is responsible for leading the organization’s sourcing strategy through effective management of RFPs, supplier negotiations, contract development, and new product evaluations. This role provides strategic direction within the contracting function, ensures alignment with clinical and operational priorities, and drives measurable financial and operational performance across assigned categories. The director serves as a key liaison between suppliers, value analysis teams, and internal stakeholders to support standardization, cost reduction, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing Leadership

- Lead the full lifecycle of sourcing initiatives—including opportunity identification, RFP design, bid evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.

- Develop and execute category strategies that align with organizational goals for cost reduction, standardization, and supplier optimization.

- Provide expert guidance on price modeling, terms and conditions, risk mitigation, and contract structures.

- Oversee contract implementation and ensure ongoing compliance, including monitoring supplier performance and adherence to service levels.

-Development and Maintenance of RFP calendar.

2. Supplier Negotiation & Relationship Management

- Serve as the primary negotiator for complex supplier agreements, achieving competitive pricing, value-added incentives, and favorable business terms.

- Cultivate strong supplier partnerships to support innovation, reliability, and continuous improvement.

- Resolve contract or performance issues in collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

- Maintain detailed documentation of negotiation strategies, decisions, and outcomes.

3. RFP & Competitive Bidding Oversight

- Manage the execution of RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs, ensuring accurate requirements gathering, transparent evaluation processes, and timely award decisions.

- Lead bid analysis and prepare executive-ready summaries highlighting financial impacts, product equivalencies, risk considerations, and strategic recommendations.

- Ensure competitive bidding processes follow internal policies, compliance standards, and industry best practices.

4. New Product & Technology Evaluation

- Partner with clinical, operational, and value analysis teams to assess the viability of new products, devices, or technologies.

- Conduct detailed cost-benefit analyses, utilization modeling, and market benchmarking to support product decisions.

- Coordinate trials, demonstrations, and product comparisons to ensure clinical appropriateness and operational fit.

- Recommend adoption, standardization, or alternatives based on financial and clinical impact.

5. Data Analysis, Reporting & Financial Impact Tracking

- Analyze spend data, utilization patterns, and supplier metrics to identify sourcing opportunities and support category strategy development.

- Produce financial models, savings projections, and total-cost-of-ownership analyses.

- Track and report realized savings, contract compliance levels, and supplier performance indicators.

- Prepare leadership briefs, presentations, and value analysis committee reports.

6. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Collaborate with clinicians, operations, finance, supply chain distribution, and leadership teams to ensure alignment on sourcing decisions and implementation timelines.

- Facilitate communication and decision-making across departments by presenting contracting strategies and bid outcomes.

- Support change management efforts associated with product conversions, supplier transitions, and contract rollouts.

Qualification Requirements

Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field (required). Master’s degree preferred.

- 3–7 years of progressive experience in contracting, sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles (required).

- Prior experience managing RFPs, contract negotiations, or product evaluation initiatives (required).

- Healthcare supply chain or GPO contracting experience strongly preferred.

- Prior leadership or project management experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

- Advanced understanding of sourcing methodologies, negotiation strategies, and contract management best practices.

- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities across clinical and administrative environments.

- Proficiency in Excel, contracting platforms, ERP/supply chain systems, and spend analytics tools.

- Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously with attention to detail and strong organizational discipline.

- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and lead cross-functional teams.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
