Are you the person who takes a vague business question and comes back with a clear answer, a recommendation, and a plan to make it real? We're looking for a Senior Data & Business Analyst to manage and drive the data and analytics initiatives that power our marketing and business-wide decision-making — owning them all the way through, from the first SQL query to production implementation.
This is a hands-on, high-skill individual contributor role with real ownership and real autonomy. You won't be managing people — you'll be trusted to manage the work: scoping data and analytics initiatives, prioritizing competing demands, and driving them through to done. And this role doesn't stop at insights. When a new model or data capability is built, you're the one partnering with analysts, data developers, and marketing operations to get it implemented, tested, and running in production. If you like being the person who makes data initiatives actually happen — not just analyzed — keep reading.
Who We Are:
National Business Institute (NBI) is a leading provider of continuing legal education, serving attorneys across every practice area and jurisdiction in the country. Behind that is a serious data operation: a customer data platform, predictive models in production, and a marketing engine that runs on what the data says. This role sits at the center of it — close enough to leadership that your work shapes real decisions.
What You'll Do:
- Own data and analytics initiatives end to end — from scoping the business need, through analysis and build, through partnering with data developers and marketing operations to launch solutions into production. Your projects don't die in a deck; they ship.
- Be the engine behind data operations for marketing and the wider business — audience creation, segmentation, campaign data, and data delivery across our CDP and operational systems. You're the go-to.
- Write and optimize complex SQL to extract, structure, and integrate data from multiple sources.
- Contribute to predictive and analytical modeling — forecasting, churn, lifetime value, propensity — sometimes building models yourself, and always driving how models get operationalized and used.
- Design and read tests the right way — split tests, holdouts, incrementality — and enjoy the moment a clean readout settles a debate.
- Own product, marketing, and sales reporting: dashboards, campaign and channel performance, subscriptions, attribution, and executive views in Power BI, Excel, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and Shopify.
- Turn business questions into analysis, and analysis into plain-language recommendations — presented directly to leadership, shaping real marketing spend and business decisions.
- Keep our data trustworthy and your work built to last: maintain standards for accuracy and compliant use of customer data, audit regularly, and document and structure your work so others can build on it.
- Manage your own work. Large initiatives will set the priorities, and you're trusted to organize and drive your queue of recurring needs, ad hoc requests, and projects around them. You'll also have a real voice in the process, helping leadership prioritize where data can make the biggest difference.
What You Bring:
- A genuine passion for data and data-driven outcomes — you believe decisions should be won with evidence keeping business metrics and ROI at the forefront.
- 4–7 years in analytics, marketing data, data operations, or a similar role — but we care more about what you can do than how long you've done it.
- Advanced SQL and high familiarity with relational databases — schemas, joins, keys, and how tables really relate. You genuinely enjoy untangling messy, multi-source data problems in code. This is the one non-negotiable.
- Experience taking data work into production — partnering with developers, engineers, or operations teams to turn data requirements, analysis, and models into live, running systems.
- Working knowledge of predictive modeling (forecasting, propensity, churn, LTV) — built yourself or deep in implementing them. Python, R, or another modeling language preferred — not a dealbreaker, but it will set you apart.
- Experience designing or analyzing experiments (A/B tests, holdouts, incrementality) plus rigor and skepticism about your own numbers — you validate before you present, and you're honest about what the data can and can't answer.
- Strong Power BI and Excel skills, with an eye for reporting that's intuitive rather than just technically correct.
- A finisher's streak. You get a real kick out of driving work to done — clearing blockers, chasing down answers, and busting through barriers — and people learn fast that when it's yours, it's handled.
- You enjoy ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, insights-into-action environment — working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, challenging assumptions professionally, making smart calls with the information you have, and keeping things moving.
- You use modern AI tools to work faster and smarter. Familiarity with Salesforce, Google Analytics, Shopify, CDPs, or recommendation/personalization engines is a plus.
