This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Instructional Technology & Lab Coordinator who will be all-in on our mission and who plans, coordinates, and oversees the daily operations of the instructional computer labs, classrooms, and studios supporting the Graphic Design, Photography, Visual Art, and Mass Media programs. This position ensures the efficient, effective, and safe operation of instructional spaces while providing technical and instructional support to students and faculty. Responsibilities include coordinating instructional technology, training and supervising student workers, teaching one (1) to two (2) courses per academic year based on qualifications and departmental needs, providing Adobe Creative Cloud tutoring, supporting student recruitment and onboarding efforts, collaborating with Information Technology to maintain instructional hardware, software, and equipment, and performing other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate's Degree in Graphic Design, Photography, Visual Art, Mass Media, or a closely related field.
Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Graphic Design, Photography, Visual Art, Mass Media, or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two (2) years of experience operating Apple computers, MacOS, and Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including software installation, troubleshooting, and hardware support. Experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Adobe XD.
Preferred: One (1) to three (3) years of teaching or instructional support experience in higher education. Experience using Blender for 2D and 3D animation and administering Apple Shared Local Hard Drive environments.
- Coordinate the daily operations of instructional computer labs, classrooms, and studio spaces supporting the Graphic Design, Photography, Visual Art, and Mass Media programs.

Teach one (1) to two (2) courses per academic year based on qualifications and departmental needs.

Ensure instructional labs are prepared for classes, including equipment setup, software availability, and supply readiness.

Provide technical and instructional support to students utilizing creative software, instructional technologies, and lab equipment.

Support faculty during lab instruction, studio activities, and multimedia projects.

Monitor lab usage and maintain a safe, organized, and productive instructional environment.

Track and manage inventory of instructional equipment, materials, software, and technology resources.

Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and multimedia equipment, coordinating with Information Technology for advanced troubleshooting and repairs.

Assist with software installations, updates, system maintenance, and instructional technology readiness in collaboration with Information Technology.

Supervise student use of instructional technology and ensure compliance with established lab procedures and guidelines.

Develop instructional guides and training materials for lab equipment, software, and instructional technologies.

Maintain and administer the department's Apple Shared Local Hard Drive.

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate student workers supporting instructional labs and studios.

Monitor student worker performance, approve timesheets, and provide ongoing training related to technology, equipment, and departmental procedures.

Provide tutoring support for Graphic Design, Photography, Visual Art, and Mass Media students using Adobe Creative Cloud and other instructional technologies.

Respond to emails, phone calls, and inquiries regarding instructional labs, equipment, and technology resources.

Assist with departmental recruitment and outreach activities, including Springboard, Ignite, New Student Orientation, and related events.

Assist with exhibitions, showcases, recruiting events, student media productions, and coordinate equipment, materials, installation, and event logistics.

Provide operational and instructional technology support for departmental events and special projects.

Perform other work-related duties as required.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

7 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, demonstrate software and instructional technologies, and sit for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift, move, or transport instructional materials, computers, peripherals, and equipment weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying instructional or institutional events as necessary.
Working Environment: This position operates primarily in instructional computer labs, classrooms, studios, and professional office environments. The employee routinely uses computers, creative software, printers, scanners, cameras, phones, and other instructional technology while working in a high-traffic educational environment with frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff. Occasional work may be performed independently or at off-campus recruiting and instructional events.
