Full Job Description

BOC Bank is seeking a Loan Underwriter to join our Commercial Loan team. In this role, you will analyze, structure, and recommend credit decisions on a range of commercial loan requests, including commercial and industrial (C&I), commercial real estate (CRE), and small business lending. This is an on-site position based at our Amarillo, Texas office.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and global cash flow for commercial borrowers and guarantors to assess repayment capacity and creditworthiness.
Prepare clear, well-supported written credit memoranda that summarize the borrower's financial condition, loan structure, collateral, risk factors, and a recommended risk rating.
Evaluate collateral adequacy, including review of appraisals, valuations, and loan-to-value calculations.
Assign and support accurate risk ratings consistent with the Bank's credit policy and risk-rating framework.
Identify and document key credit risks, mitigating factors, policy exceptions, and appropriate loan covenants.
Partner with loan officers to gather information, clarify deal structure, and ensure complete and accurate credit packages.
Present and defend credit recommendations to loan officers, credit committee, and other approval authorities as needed.
Monitor portfolio credit quality, including annual reviews, covenant compliance, and renewals.
Maintain organized, audit-ready credit files and documentation.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in commercial credit analysis or commercial underwriting.
Strong understanding of commercial credit analysis.
Working knowledge of C&I and CRE loan structures, collateral types, and loan documentation.
Familiarity with banking regulations relevant to commercial lending and fair lending.
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, well-reasoned credit memoranda.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deals under deadline.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with credit analysis or spreading software.
Interest in leveraging emerging AI tools to improve underwriting efficiency, while applying independent judgment.
