Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Information Technology Services (ITS) at Iowa State University is seeking a skilled Systems Analyst II to join the Identity Services team. This position provides an opportunity to work independently on the implementation, administration, and support of enterprise identity and access management (IAM) services that enable the university's academic, research, and administrative missions. The role serves as a key technical contributor supporting a modern identity ecosystem including Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Google Workspace for Education, and connected applications utilizing single sign-on technologies.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience in server administration, automation, identity lifecycle management, and systems integration. This individual will work closely with campus stakeholders and technical teams to maintain secure, reliable, and scalable identity services while contributing to ongoing modernization and automation initiatives. The position requires the ability to independently manage projects of moderate complexity, identify opportunities for process improvement, and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency and security.
Administer and support enterprise identity systems including Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Google Workspace for Education.
Develop, maintain , and troubleshoot PowerShell, Bash, and other automation scripts used for provisioning, reporting, monitoring, and operational support.
Implement and support account lifecycle management processes including provisioning, deprovisioning, role assignments, and access reviews.
Support authentication, authorization, and single sign-on integrations using industry-standard protocols such as SAML, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect.
Participate in technical projects involving identity modernization, cloud migration, automation, and security improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
The Identity Services team within Information Technology Services (ITS) provides and supports the foundational identity, authentication, authorization, and access management services used across Iowa State University. The team is responsible for managing the technologies and processes that enable secure access to university systems, applications, and data for students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and guests.
Identity Services partners closely with campus stakeholders to deliver modern, secure, and scalable identity solutions that support Iowa State University's teaching, research, extension, and administrative missions. Current initiatives include identity governance, lifecycle automation, cloud identity modernization, access management, and enterprise authentication services.
