Full Job Description

Welcome to Universal Plastics in Howes Cave, NY - Plastics is what we machine!

3&5 Axis Routing/Trimming Machines, Thermoform Presses

Shift: 1st Shift, Mon – Thurs, 6:00am – 4:30pm

Hourly Rate: Starting rate $17.50/Hr - negotiable starting wage depending on years of experience in similar role, position eligible for company "Pay for Skills" Progression Program

Open Positions:

Machine Operators - CNC Machinist & Press Operator -Forming

Minimum requirements:

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen & background check
Must provide favorable past work reference
Up to 95 % standing throughout the day
Must have good attendance history
Must have 1 year previous experience in operating machinery & set-ups
Mechanical skills important
Basic Shop Math & Blueprint Reading is important

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

The following is a list of the essential functions for this position. To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each duty satisfactorily. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in a professional manner and in accordance with company policies and producers as found in the Employee Handbook and elsewhere.

· CNC MACHINIST Job Summary:

Conducts and operates computer numeric controlled (CNC) equipment for the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Performs precision tool machining operations through monitoring feed rates, speed, and special instruments.

· Conducts inspections through the utilization of measuring instruments that provide for accuracy. Uses calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators, and scales.

· Continuously performs preventative maintenance, which includes cleaning and maintain safe workspaces.

· Meets organizational production goals including cycle time, quality, and quality.

· Utilizes blueprints and dimensions, machine instructions, and special project guidelines.

· May have working knowledge of programming CNC machines to ensure proper calculations, parameters, and other condition requirements.

· Other duties as assigned.

PRESS OPERATOR/FORMER Job Summary:

Performs work associated with operation of a forming press this may include set up responsibility of a job.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Tests and inspects machine to determine safe and efficient operation. Performs some routine maintenance and fixes standard malfunctions.

· Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications and shop work orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.

· Checks that items produced pass quality control inspection.

· Maintains clean work area which includes line clearance when finishing a job and sweeping floors or other housekeeping tasks.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to use hand and power tools such as drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchets, etc.

· Have ability to lift/move heavy objects

· Ability to understand and follow directions

· Attentiveness to work being performed

· Must have manual dexterity and have physical stamina

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to work as a part of a team

· Be detail oriented

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter. Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 1-2 years of experience.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to work a 10-hour shift.

Must be able to lift to 40 pounds.
