Position Summary:
The Senior Architect will lead the architectural design and documentation of custom luxury residential projects from conceptual design through construction administration.
This position requires a strong combination of design talent, technical expertise, project management skills, and construction knowledge. It involves collaborating with clients, consultants, interior designers, and the construction team to ensure that each project is beautifully designed, thoroughly documented, code-compliant, and successfully constructed.
The successful candidate is an experienced architect who enjoys managing multiple projects simultaneously, making practical design decisions, coordinating complex building systems, and taking ownership of delivering exceptional work.
Responsibilities:
Architectural Design:
· Design custom residences with a strong understanding of proportion, scale, materials, detailing, and spatial relationships.
· Designs must balance aesthetics, functionality, budget, and constructability.
· Prepare design presentations, drawings, renderings, and other materials used to communicate ideas to clients.
· Collaborate and coordinate with the Design Principal to maintain company design standards
· Generate creative solutions and proactively suggest new ideas and innovative products that can be incorporated into project design
Construction Documents and Technical Coordination
· Prepare complete, accurate, and highly detailed architectural construction documents.
· Review drawings for completeness, code compliance, constructability, and consistency.
· Develop architectural details appropriate for complex, high-end residential construction to ensure clarity for the construction team
· Coordinate structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, landscape, and interior design
· Prepare and coordinate permit submissions according to building codes, zoning and local permitting requirements and respond to comments from reviewing authorities.
Project Management
· Manage multiple projects and meet timelines according to established design and construction schedules.
· Maintain organized project records, drawing sets, specifications, selections, and consultant information.
· Communicate project status, design issues, and required decisions clearly to company leadership and the project team.
Client and Team Collaboration
· Participate in client meetings and clearly present architectural concepts, recommendations, and technical information.
· Work collaboratively with the construction team and onsite superintendent throughout the construction process.
· Provide timely architectural information and clarification to the construction team.
· Support a collaborative design-build environment in which design and construction decisions are considered together.
Construction Administration
· Conduct periodic site visits to observe construction progress and evaluate compliance with the architectural documents.
· Respond to requests for information and provide sketches, details, and clarifications as needed.
· Review shop drawings, product submittals, samples, and substitution requests.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Minimum 7 years of professional architectural experience with a strong portfolio showcasing complex medium-to-large-scale residential projects across all phases of work
· B.S. or M.S. degree in Architecture (required)
· Current architectural license and registration in PA with suitable credentials for registration in other states. Ability to stamp and seal construction drawings.
· Fluent in AutoCAD and Revit
· Proven experience in architectural design with a strong portfolio showcasing complex residential projects
· Demonstrated experience designing and documenting high-end custom residential projects
· Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, detailing, and building systems.
· Knowledge of applicable building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.
· Experience coordinating structural engineers, MEP consultants, and civil engineers
· Strong critical thinking and technical skills
· Naturally self-motivated and self-directed
· Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
· Communicates clearly, professionally, and confidently with clients, consultants, and construction team
· Experience managing multiple projects and ability to push timeline
· Has a sophisticated design sensibility and a strong appreciation for luxury residential architecture.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
· Experience working in a remote environment is a plus.

Job Location: Remote position with commutable drive to jobs sites for field visits as needed
