Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Second Shift CMM Operator to support our precision manufacturing operations. This position is primarily responsible for operating CMM equipment, inspecting precision-machined components, and providing accurate measurement results to support production and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience operating CMM equipment in a CNC machining environment, understands precision measurement, and can work independently during second shift operations. Candidates with quality inspection experience are highly preferred and will have the opportunity to support first article, in-process, and final inspections when needed.

This position works independently on second shift while supporting machinists and production personnel to ensure parts meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and manufacturing requirements. The CMM Operator is expected to manage inspection priorities, communicate issues clearly, and escalate concerns to the appropriate personnel when needed.

Responsibilities

Operate CMM equipment using established inspection programs.
Load parts, set up fixtures, and run CMM inspection routines.
Review CMM results and communicate inspection findings.
Generate and maintain inspection reports and documentation.
Verify machined components meet drawing requirements, specifications, and customer requirements.
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
Perform dimensional inspections using CMM equipment and precision measuring tools.
Communicate measurement results and quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Work with machinists and production personnel to answer inspection-related questions.
Assist in identifying and resolving part quality issues.
Maintain accurate inspection records and support traceability requirements.
Provide timely inspection feedback to help keep production moving.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Quality Inspection Experience (Strong Plus)

Candidates with quality inspection experience are highly preferred. Experience with the following is a plus:

First article inspections
In-process inspections
Final inspections
Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
Supporting machinists with inspection-related questions
Identifying and documenting nonconforming material
Completing inspection reports and quality documentation
Using manual inspection tools, including:
Micrometers
Calipers
Height gauges
Bore gauges
Indicators

Required Qualifications

Experience operating CMM equipment in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
Experience with precision measurement and inspection techniques.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate results.
Ability to work independently on second shift with minimal supervision.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with machinists, production personnel, and quality teams.
Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar.
CNC machining background or experience working in a precision machine shop.
Experience inspecting 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machined components.
Experience with tight-tolerance, high-precision components.
Aerospace, medical, automotive, automation, or other precision manufacturing experience.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems.
Experience supporting AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements is a plus..
