Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Legal Assistant to support our legal team in various capacities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures, with prior legal experience. This position may assist attorneys and paralegals with litigation for non-profits, oil company clients, corporate work, Estate Planning , Probate or Business Documents for our clients. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to lawyers and paralegals, such a managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and organizing files and documents.
Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, and contracts.
Communicate with clients to gather information, schedule appointments, and provide updates on case progress.
Conduct basic legal research using online databases or libraries to gather information relevant to cases.
Responsible for organizing and maintaining case files, including electronic and physical documents, to ensure they are easily accessible to attorneys and paralegals.
Assist with filing legal documents with courts and government agencies, ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements.
Assist with tracking billable hours, preparing invoices, and managing client billing records.
Share general office tasks with other Legal Assistants such as answering the phones when required, managing office calendars, etc.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams in a legal office environment.

Requirements Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal is preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook. Prior experience with Law Office Management Software preferred.
Familiarity with various areas of law, legal terminology and documentation is advantageous.
Strong skills in legal drafting and proofreading to ensure high-quality documentation.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong clerical skills including attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
